Luka Doncic could potentially become one of the greatest athletes ever to step onto an NBA court. His run over the last six seasons has been phenomenal. The 5x All-Star has already positioned himself above most pioneers of the game. He’s also making a solid run to become league MVP soon. It seems as if the Dallas Mavericks star is on a mission to become arguably the greatest ever. Only time will say how far he’s able to reach out to the title.
So far, the Mavericks guard has averaged 28.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game over six seasons. He’s surpassed multiple greats over time which is a good sign that he deserves to be called one of the best regardless. Doncic still has a lot of time to prove himself on the floor. He’s already shown his offensive versatility and is on pace to break a couple of records. But that doesn’t mean Luka isn’t listed among the greats right now.
Luka Doncic joins LeBron James and Oscar Robertson in a special career milestone
The former No.3 overall pick already has a couple of accolades under his belt. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2019 and made the All-Rookie First Team after his debut. Doncic already holds name to multiple accolades from his time overseas. Luka previously played in the EuroLeague and Lisa ACB as well. The 2020 Olympics All-Star is slowly inching his way to glory in the NBA as well. Right now, he’s recorded over 10,000 points, 3,000 rebounds, and 3,000 assists within six seasons.

When you look at these stats, in particular, only two other stars were able to achieve this within six seasons. They were LeBron James and Oscar Robertson. It is interesting how Doncic is also on pace to potentially surpass both these legendary players in points and triple-doubles over 10 years from now.
Can Luka Doncic surpass LeBron James as the all-time scoring leader?
During the 2022-23 season, LeBron James solidified his name in the history books as the NBA’s all-time scoring leader. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who held the record for over 30 years. Right now, James is also on pace to become the first player to cross 40,000 points and this could happen before the end of the 2023-24 regular season. James’ points total will increase drastically before retiring.

The 4x NBA Champion has not put a date on retirement but he knows he probably has under five seasons left in the league. Having said that, James will touch 45,000 points if he remains healthy and scores at least 15 points per game for five more seasons. However, will Luka Doncic beat that score? Considering that he isn’t injury-prone and already over 28 points per game every, he could surpass James. But it all depends on what the future holds for him in terms of injuries and consistency.
