LeBron James has been trying to make sure the world never forgets his name. The legend has played in the league for 21 seasons and at peak level. It is incredible yet baffling how well James is able to maintain his elite status as one of the best players in the league. Considering how far he has come, the 4x MVP has a lot to prove since he often speaks against father time and age.
James is currently in his 21st season averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. The Lakers are coming off a bitter-sweet 2022-23 season. And they hope to carry their playoff momentum into this season. They’ve had a couple of impressive wins and a few disheartening losses so far. The Lakers rank sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 8-6.
LeBron James plans to change the narrative around father time
LeBron James had an outstanding game against the Houston Rockets on November 19. Firstly, every player on the Lakers roster had a phenomenal game with each contributing to crucial parts of the matchup. James was the Lakers’ frontman in terms of scoring as usual. He’s been impressive so far having recorded a couple of monstrous statlines.
Following the Lakers’ win against the Rockets, the 19x All-Star had a few words regarding father time. He said, “It’s me versus father time. I’m trying to change the narrative. Started it off with last year and trying to keep it going. My teammates joke about me saying I lay the ball too much when I get an open lane. I gotta change that narrative too; I told them I’m not in shape, let me get into more shape.”

James has recorded five 30-point games in 13 appearances. And out of the 13 games he has played in, he’s scored less than 20 points in two of them. And over the last three seasons, The King has been averaging at least 8 rebounds and 6 assists consistently.
LeBron James’ 37-point outburst defies the odds of fatherhood
The Lakers and Rockets are both playing far better than they were last season. However, LA dominated the floor in all aspects. Houston had a great start during the first quarter but the Lakers’ defense picked up over the next 24 minutes. LA managed to outscore Houston during the second and third quarters to bring the points total close. The game was potentially heading towards overtime with over five seconds left in the quarter.
LeBron James somehow managed to get fouled by Tari Eason. He nailed a game-winning free throw to give the Lakers a single-digit lead. The Rockets weren’t able to get a shot up in time giving the Lakers their 8th win of the season. James finished with a marvelous 37-point performance backed by 27 points and 10 rebounds by Anthony Davis. The Lakers’ defense was also on point as well.
