LeBron James was the biggest basketball prospect when we entered the world of professional sports in 2003. Considering how good he was in high school, James was challenged to fill the shoes of Michael Jordan and other NBA legends. People also expected him to supersede such players to become the greatest of all time as well. While he has exceeded most of these expectations, it took him years of disciplined training and dedication to achieve his status among the GOATs.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward has trained relentlessly to maintain his physique. He puts in a lot of work to remain fit and in form to compete. It’s not a rumor that he invests several thousands of dollars to take care of his body either. Over the years, James has never found himself involved in PED scandals of any sort. But people do suspect that his name flies past the radar when it comes to steroid usage. LeBron is pushing 39 years old, which adds to the speculation as well.
LeBron James hasn’t declined in any way or form. While his name hasn’t been involved in PED usage, several other athletes from other sports are often drug tested as it is quite common in the NFL, MLB, WWE, and various fight promotions. The NBA is rarely or never involved in drug scandals.
Over a decade ago, several MLB players including Alex Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz, and others were involved in a federal biogenesis investigation. The 21 athletes named were suspended. However, the investigation has resurfaced and ESPN revealed multiple other athletes as well as associates of LeBron were mentioned.
LeBron James had no idea of Savannah James or his associates’ PED scandal involvement
ESPN reported that names of world-class athletes including wrestlers, boxers, fitness trainers, federal officials, and other sports figures were revealed in unredacted federal documents. The names included Paul Wight (The Big Show, WWE) and Shannon Briggs along with two associates of LeBron James. Ernest Mims was one of the associates named in the case. Mims has been engaging in business dealings with James for several years
The other name mentioned was David Alexander, a well-known fitness expert who also trained James earlier on. Reports stated that PEDs purchased by them were never distributed to athletes or anybody they were associated with. Additionally, ESPN stated that there were no indications that suggested James used PEDs or was provided such drugs by the individuals. However, it is simply LeBron’s association with them that prompted investigators to question whether the 4x NBA Champion has used PEDs.

David Alexander trained LeBron James during his stints with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers. Interestingly, Alexander was not mentioned as James’ trainer in the documents. He was mentioned as a Miami-based trainer of Savannah James. This led federal investigators to believe she might have used PEDs. However, ESPN did not find any indications that James and his wife were guilty of PED usage. LeBron had no idea about their and his associates’ involvement in the scandal until ESPN approached them.
