SUMMARY
- LeBron James was seen rapping to Kendrick Lamar's "Like That" which was a diss track to Drake.
- Drake and Lamar have been feuding over a song the former released with J. Cole.
LeBron James had one of his best performances this season against the Brooklyn Nets last night. Right now, his motive is to place the LA Lakers above any potential threats before the end of the regular season and establish themselves as a solid team. The purple and gold have been playing incredible basketball lately. If they had performed this way earlier, chances are they would’ve been amongst the top five in the West.
While the 20x NBA All-Star prepares for a potential post-season run, his latest actions on the floor struck controversy. James is extremely close to Drake, one of the biggest rappers to ever put out music. They’ve made multiple appearances together on social media and in public. Drake once honored James and his son, Bronny, by walking with them during one of his concerts in Los Angeles.
LeBron James rapping ‘Like That’ is disrespectful to Drake
Now coming back to the controversy. During the pregame shoot around, Kendrick Lamar’s hit song “Like That” played through the speakers at the Barclays Center. LeBron James was seen mouthing lyrics from a verse that Lamar rapped. It said, “Still got PTSD, m*therf**k the big three, n***a, it’s just big me. N***a, bum.” For those who aren’t aware, this song was a diss track to Drake. And these lyrics in particular had something to do with one of Drake’s collaborations with J. Cole.

Drake and J. Cole released a song called “First Person Shooter”. In this song, Cole referred to himself, Drake, and Lamar as the Big 3 of the rap industry today. However, Kendrick took major offense to it and released wrote lyrics that slammed Drake and Cole. Kendrick believes that he stands alone above both the other rappers, according to the lyrics stated above. James rapping those exact lyrics which were written against Drake sparked controversy over their relationship.
LeBron James previously referred to Drake as family
In a previous interview with Drake on Uninterrupted, LeBron James made a very serious statement regarding his relationship with the rapper. He said, “I want you to know one thing. We’re family, you’re a brother of mine. You could never ever let me down. Ever.” And now, these words have come to haunt LeBron. Fans also called out the 4x NBA Champion for contradicting his promise to Drake.
It is unclear whether LeBron James and Drake have some bad blood between themselves. But fans have come up with countless theories. There hasn’t been any indicator claiming James is on bad terms with his good friend. But the Lakers superstar is a big rap fanatic himself. This could have been an innocent moment he had on the court during practice which may have been blown past proportion.
