The online engagement era of the NBA has now begun. LeBron James created a ton of headlines with his Q&A session on Twitter. Now Kevin Durant has followed him creating his buzz with a back and forth with his fans. The question that started it all followed the theme of the old vs modern NBA and it was a great one.
Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets got swept in the first round and were sent home by the Boston Celtics. Instead of spending his time in the offseason doing nothing, he used it as an opportunity to engage with his audience in a way LeBron just did. This isn’t the first time he’s copied LeBron as he did join a super team only after following the King’s example.
Kevin Durant believes 3 former centers that can still dominate the league
KD has always been regarded as a generational talent. His skill set is not one that you would have found in the 80s and 90s. Would he have been as good as he is today? or would he have been better? All questions are purely fictional and we’ll never get the answer. It’s the same for the question when put vice-versa.
Which centers from the 90s would be in the mvp conversation if they played in todays nba?

Kevin Durant rejected the initial responses made to the question. He did not like snubs being made in those answers so he stepped in with his thoughts.
I got Pat Ewing, shaq and David Robinson https://t.co/IsL1zUJMUc

Kevin Durant believes that these 3 NBA centers would still be MVPs with their game style in today’s NBA. Shaq’s game was completely paint-dominant. He could score 40 points a night and no one in the NBA would be able to stop him. Even Shaq believes that he’s an MVP just by showing the similarities in his and Giannis‘ way of playing.

Hakeem Olajuwon won NBA titles purely on his footwork. It was so elite that superstars like Joel Embiid learned their strengths seeing the Dream’s footwork. Ewing was an all-star the second he came into the league. His offensive production and defensive acumen could switch an entire franchise around.

However, these 3 centers could also wind up struggling in a league so perimeter centric. Would Shaq, Ewing, and Hakeem be Hall of Famers in today’s NBA?
