Keith Dambrot recognized LeBron James’ potential when he was just 13 years old
Once any NBA star elevates their play and transforms into an elite athlete, they generate a phenomenal amount of attention and fan following. In order to stay true to themselves, several stars prefer the company of those they knew before the fame and success.
In LeBron James’ case, Keith Dambrot is one of those people. Dambrot was a former college coach and was given charge of King James during his sophomore year in high school. As JJ Reddick questioned Dambrot about LeBron’s mentality at a young age, the Lakers star’s former coach took a look back in time and recalled events that took place when he first met LeBron.
Dambrot continued, “You know, a high school coach always hypes guys up sometimes but…just easy guy great teammate. Cared about playing as a team, loved his teammates, played hard but the biggest thing that jumps at you is his innate ability and his ability to learn.”
Although LeBron James has now been in the NBA for more than two decades, his desire and ability to learn and adapt while playing the right way has not really taken a step back.
