In the game, Kawhi Leonard scored 38 points, while Paul George scored 20 of his 35 in the fourth quarter. The Lakers’ lineup was hampered by the absence of four rotation players. Coach Darvin Ham deployed a 6-foot-10-plus frontcourt trio in the third quarter to upset the Clippers’ defense.
The Lakers led 87-85 in the closing minutes, but the Clippers seized an 8-2 advantage. With 17 seconds remaining, George’s 3-pointer knotted the game at 117, forcing overtime. But the Lakers won it all in overtime. They seized the chance to end their 11-game losing run by catching opponents just where they needed them.
