SUMMARY
- The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Phoenix Suns 120-95.
- Anthony Edwards was the star of the night, with 33 points.
The Minnesota Timberwolves just beat the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of Round 1 in the NBA playoffs. The Wolves-Suns series has been one of the most anticipated, with good reason. Their clash offers us the opportunity to watch some of the biggest players in the world, including Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Edwards.
The Wolves won the game 120-95, with a phenomenal performance from Anthony Edwards. He put up 33 points on the board, along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists. He went 14-24 and made 4 out of 8 three-pointers on the night. Ant-Man was certainly the star of the night, but that’s not what caught the eye of fans.
Anthony Edwards trash-talks the great Kevin Durant after sinking a three
Toward the end of the third quarter, Edwards was double-teamed by Kevin Durant and Drew Eubanks. That was when Rudy Gobert made a screen to bail out his teammate. KD attempted to get back on Edwards‘ tail but it was too late. The Timberwolves star isn’t compared to Michael Jordan, aka the Black Cat, for no reason.
He just needs a second to gain momentum and make a shot, no matter where it is from. That was the case against KD. He made the shot over KD’s head and taunted him right after as well.

Although it is not known what Ant said to Durant, it is interesting to see one of the best young players embrace a challenge from a decorated veteran. Durant seemed to welcome the talk as well, as he smiled when the pair were walking away from the Suns’ half. Apart from this moment, Edwards also stole the ball from KD and threw it down with ease in the fourth quarter.
Kevin Durant welcomes Anthony Edwards’ trash talk and claims he will return the favor
In the postgame interview, Durant said, “Yeah, it’s just basketball – not even playoffs, it’s just hoop. You get hot, you make shots, you make tough shots, you’re gonna feel excited about yourself. So it’s on me to keep coming back.” The pair will go head-to-head again soon, and we will likely get another intense matchup again.

When asked about the incident, Edwards admitted that Durant was his favorite player. He said, “I think everybody here knows that’s my favorite player of all time. That was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life.”
It is interesting to see two talented players go against each other with everything they’ve got on the court, and appreciate one another’s game off it. Both of these players are oozing confidence right now and it will be quite a game when they get the best out of each
