Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has recently expressed high confidence in his upcoming signature shoe line with Adidas, the ‘AE 1.’ In an interview with ‘The Boardroom,’ Edwards shared his vision for the shoe, emphasizing his desire to create footwear not just for basketball courts but for everyday wear.
It is clear that he has a strong belief in his performance and how it will impact the success of his brand. “With the performance that I plan on putting on? It’s gonna go through the roof,” Edwards told Boardroom in September.
Adidas made Edwards the face of the brand because they saw his potential. His commitment to quality and appeal is clear from his statement: “I don’t want to make shoes that people might want to hoop in. Nah, I want to make shoes that I know people are gonna wear.”

This attitude, along with the interesting and unique design of his shoes, has drawn comparisons to the iconic Michael Jordan and his partnership with Nike. Some NBA fans even say he is this generation’s Michael Jordan.
When will Anthony Edwards’ signature shoe be released?
The much-awaited release of Anthony Edwards’ Adidas ‘AE 1’ is set for December 16th, as reported by ‘Kicks on Fire.‘ The initial release will come in three colorways, each dedicated to Edwards’ mother and grandmother, and will be priced at $120 per pair.

The ‘AE 1’ design is highlighted by a series of hexagon-shaped holes on the side. Edwards isn’t alone in his draft class experimenting with out-of-the-box designs – LaMelo Ball’s signature line with Puma which is currently in its third edition shows a similar kind of flashy style. Given the growing trend of eye-catching signature sneakers, the launch of Edwards’ shoe line is eagerly awaited by fans and sneaker enthusiasts.
Anthony Edwards says he’s not interested in Hollywood anymore
Even after his successful acting debut with the 2022 basketball movie ‘Hustle’, Anthony Edwards has decided to step back from Hollywood to focus entirely on his basketball career. In ‘Hustle,‘ Edwards played alongside Adam Sandler, where he received praise for his role of Kermit Wilts.
But in a recent interview with Boardroom co-founder Rich Kleiman, Edwards revealed that the demands of shooting are coming in the way of his commitment to basketball. “Not while I’m playing. That was the first time I felt I wasn’t working out basketball-wise.” Edwards stated, emphasizing his priority of basketball over acting.
The hectic schedule of balancing practice and shooting affected his ability to train. Edwards’ decision is similar to that of his idol, Kevin Durant, who also stepped back from acting.
