Dennis Rodman is arguably the best rebounder that NBA history has ever witnessed. The performances and skills that he used to display on hardwood were remarkable. However, he had his own ways of doing things – on and off the court. Michael Jordan in his appearance on Tonight Show with Jay Leno spoke about the worm’s dressing style.
For the 1997-98 season, fans were aware that Phil Jackson and Scottie Pippen were coming back. However, there was no information about Rodman, and the curiosity was at its peak. Leno on his show asked Jordan about Rodman and his response left him in a giggle. Jordan said, “I think Dennis is close. Right now, he’s just trying to determine some of these penalties and how to keep focused”.
Jordan continued, “How many dresses does he get to wear and all that? Those are just some of the simple things”. Rodman was known for the unconventional outfits that he used to dress in, and things haven’t really changed much. His wildness still takes the news by storm, as he recently got his girlfriend’s face tattooed on his face. This left his fans stunned.
Rodman who was the key player for Detroit Pistons joined Chicago Bulls in 1995. He greatly helped the Bulls to win three championships, making it their second three-peat. Interestingly, getting Rodman on the roaster was something that was decided by His Airness. Despite Pippen’s warnings, he convinced Jackson to get Rodman to the team.
Even the NBA Finals couldn’t stop Dennis Rodman from flying to Las Vegas
Rodman’s addition to the roaster proved to be very beneficial for the Bulls. However, with his own specific ways to do things, it wasn’t the easiest transition. Jordan had to physically handle him so that his antics could be controlled. Not only this, Rodman also went to Las Vegas to party in the middle of the NBA finals.
It was his way to cool down from all the strong dominance he displayed on the court. Even though he took permission from Coach Jackson for 48 hours of leave, he was accompanied by Jordan himself. This heart-warming decision by Jordan was revealed and displayed in the docuseries ‘The Last Dance’.

The docuseries portrayed the Bulls’ win as well as a glimpse into Jordan’s personal life. Fans got to know numerous details about what went on behind the court, and how the Bulls rose to fame. However, Pippen was not happy with the way the docuseries had less focus on other teammates and more on Jordan. This was also where the famous feud between Jordan and Pippen began.
Furthermore, in this way, Jordan was able to keep an eye on Rodman as well as bond with him. Jordan knew how Rodman was, and he also stated this in his Tonight Show appearance. MJ said, “That’s just Dennis. You know how Dennis is. I’d do my best to keep him focused for eight months”. It appears as if he did so through his physical dominance as well as by joining him for a Las Vegas getaway.
