Skip Bayless recently fired shots at Trae Young and the notion of him being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As all NBA fans should be experiencing, we are in the middle of a long NBA offseason with not a lot of basketball to watch or talk about. Therefore, trade rumors and stars potentially leaving their teams have been all the media and fans have been talking about. After all, several teams have been making changes throughout this offseason.
Although he isn’t a part of an NBA team, Skip also went through a significant amount of change recently. His cohost Shannon Sharpe decided to leave him and partner up with Stephen A. Smith for ESPN. While this was considered a bad blow for Skip, it has not stopped him from resuming his show with Keyshawn Johnson.
Bayless recently made quite a few statements about Trae Young and how he wouldn’t be a good fit with the Lakers. Let us take a closer look at what he had to say and find out more.
Are LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers interested in trading for Trae Young?
Since the Lakers are one of the most popular and widely covered teams, they are almost always involved by the media each time that a superstar is unhappy with his current situation. Many NBA fans will be able to remember all the trade rumors about them acquiring Kyrie Irving when he was on the verge of leaving the Brooklyn Nets.
Similarly, there have also been reports indicating that the Lakers are interested in pursuing the Hawks star. After all, Young is supposedly unhappy with his situation at the Atlanta Hawks and would likely leave them to join the Lakers. Skip Bayless made it clear that he does not like the idea of Trae Young on the Lakers.
“Trae is a great young man. I like him…He’s maybe six feet on a good day. They call him “Ice Trae” but I call him “Mice Trae” because he’s so little and gets upset with me but you said 33.5% it’s horrible and since he came into the league he’s shot the eighth-most threes and since he came into the league he leads the whole league in turnovers it’s a bad combination just like Westbrook. He’s also a liability defensively.”
“I would not want him on my basketball team… They call him ‘Ice Trae’ and I call him ‘Mice Trae’ because he’s so little… It’s a bad combination, it’s like [Russell] Westbrook.”

Although Skip has grown increasingly well-known for his bizarre and controversial takes, he just might be right on this one. LeBron needs players who can catch and shoot the ball around him. That has been a consistent factor in the success that King James has seen over the years. Introducing a player who puts up a lot of three-pointers and has a high ball usage rate would undoubtedly hurt the Lakers.
