Cooper Flagg is looking to make one of the most important decisions of his life. A decision that could make or break his legacy in the sport of basketball. He made it a point to become one of the best high school basketball players in the United States. He’s just about achieved it, as he’s been named the No.2 ranked recruit by various sports organizations and media groups.
“Cooper Flagg is an elite two-way prospect. His instincts are off the charts on both ends of the floor and he competes with a quiet type of killer instinct,” said Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports. Experts have also stated that Flagg isn’t the type of player who always has to be the focal point of the team. However, with his level of expertise in the game at this age, Cooper is bound to become a leader and pioneer at some point. He’s just too good in various aspects of the game which is a good deal for him.
Cooper Flagg has been attending Montverde Academy, a private PK-12 school. So far, he’s been named Maine Gatorade Player of the Year, the first-ever freshman to earn the title. He also led his former school, Nokomis Regional High School to a Class A State Championship a few years ago. He was named Hoophall Classic MVP and was a semifinalist for the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award in 2023.
Will Cooper Flagg choose Duke over UConn?
In August 2023, Cooper Flagg decided to reclassify from the class of 2025 to 2024. As a No.2 ranked five-star prospect, several colleges will pounce on the opportunity to acquire him to their basketball programs. When he was in eighth grade, Flagg received his first college offer from Bryant University. Clearly, recruiters have been keeping a close eye on the 6 foot 9 inch forward.
But recently, Flagg accumulated as many as 12 offers ever since reclassifying. Some of these colleges included Kansas, Duke, and UConn, which all happen to be on his list of preferred colleges. The USA Male Athlete of the Year is scheduled to visit Duke in a week along with two other high school phenoms, Patrick Ngongba II and VJ Edgecombe. Flagg already visited UConn and crossed Kansas off the lost shortly after.

Duke rookie Jared McCain is trying his best to recruit Cooper Flagg as he told Complex, “Man, Cooper [Flagg] is my guy. He’s got to come to Duke. I think for him, it’s simple. He’s the player who he is and coming to Duke will just amplify all his attributes.” Cooper will probably announce his decision soon after the scheduled visit to Duke. He still has a good amount of time left to complete his run at Montverde. Chances are he might commit to Duke as they’ve been on the top of his list since the beginning.
