Despite being teammates with LeBron James, Christian Wood was still caught off guard after watching King James in action. As most basketball fans should be aware, LeBron is playing at an incredible level to start the 2023-2024 NBA season. Considering that he is currently in Year 21, his feats on the court are most certainly remarkable.
One of the moves that the Los Angeles Lakers made this offseason was acquiring Christian Wood from the Dallas Mavericks. Since Anthony Davis is known to be injury-prone and unreliable at times, having a backup center with a significant amount of talent is undoubtedly a good move.
Chrisitan Wood was unable to believe his eyes when LeBron James threw down a dunk and had quite a reaction that was caught on camera. That said, let us take a closer look at the play that Wood was impressed by.
Christian Wood was caught off guard by LeBron James’ hammer dunk
Out of the handful of players who were able to last for more than 20 seasons in the NBA, none of them had any trace of athleticism or explosiveness that they utilized when in their prime. However, LeBron still appears to be far from done and continues to put his abilities on display in a game against the Utah Jazz.

There is no denying that LeBron is still incredibly athletic at a point where one would assume that his prime has come to an end. In fact, James’ play this season has continued the promotion of theories that he engages in the use of PEDs. However, no concrete evidence has ever been presented to back up the accusations.
LeBron was initially hesitant about adding Wood to the Lakers roster
According to reports, King James was unsure if the Lakers should trade for Christian Wood given his injury history and lack of success with the Dallas Mavericks. Although LeBron allegedly warned the Lakers that Wood was “trouble,” the team decided to go ahead and acquire him.
In the 15 games played so far for the Los Angeles Lakers, Chrisitan Wood has averaged 7.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists. While these numbers don’t look too bad, there is no denying that Wood has a long way to go before earning recognition and respect from the Los Angeles Lakers fan base.
