SUMMARY
- Patrick Beverley and the Bucks defeated the Pacers in Game 1.
- Pat Bev has lots of respect for Tyrese Haliburton and Pacers coach Rick Carlisle.
Patrick Beverley recently discussed how the Milwaukee Bucks were doing against the Indiana Pacers and his personal thoughts on the Bucks’ opponent. To those who might not be aware, Pat Bev is an NBA star best known for his defensive abilities. He is currently playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks with the hopes of winning a coveted NBA title.
The Bucks have matched up against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers for the first round of the playoffs. Given that Indiana dominated their matchups against Milwaukee in the regular season, one may assume that Pat Bev and the rest of his squad feel a sense of rivalry and animosity. While there is no way to know how all the members of the Bucks feel about the Pacers, Beverley made his position quite clear.
Patrick Beverley praises the Indiana Pacers roster and coaching
Since Pat Bev has established a reputation for himself as a tenacious defender and trash talker, fans were surprised to hear him speak of Rick Carlisle and Tyrese Haliburton with a significant amount of respect. Here is what Beverley had to say when asked about his team’s current opponent.
“A lotta stuff in the game that obviously we can get a lot better at and uh we will… no respect. It’s a hell of a coach. They have a good coach so you gotta respect them. He runs some great stuff offensively, he’s great at making adjustments. They’re a young team and have really good players on their team. A all-star, a guy playing on USA team so it’s just the ultimate respect…You cant…You just gotta give them all their respect.”
Despite recently helping defeat the team in Game 1, Patrick Beverley does not appear to feel the need to engage in trash talk or look down at the Pacers. This is a good sign and indicates that there is a sense of mutual respect from both sides.
While it is always nice to see players give their opponents and coaches credit, questions regarding which team will end up winning this series continue to be a subject of discussion in the NBA community.
Can the Bucks win this first-round series without Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Bucks fans will remember that Giannis Antetokounmpo sustained a non-contact injury toward the end of the season and did not play in the last few games. He has also missed Game 1 of the Bucks’ first-round matchup against the Pacers and is unlikely to make an appearance in this series. In his absence, Damian Lillard stepped up to the occasion and helped lead the Bucks to victory in Game 1.
