Should the Miami Heat reconsider their entire approach to winning NBA championships? As many fans should certainly be aware, ‘Heat Culture’ is a somewhat well-known term and refers to the notation that the Miami Heat have some kind of innate culture and tradition that helps them win championships.
This innate culture refers to a certain sense of discipline and hard work when representing the Miami Heat. There is likely a lot more to it. However, the exact details regarding Heat culture and how it impacts the players on the squad are still unclear to the public.
Gilbert Arenas is a former NBA star and is still remaining relevant in the basketball community with his interesting takes and opinions. He recently discussed the entire Heat culture and questioned its very existence. That said, let us take a better look at what he had to say on the subject.
Gilbert Arenas opines that the Miami Heat have always traded for NBA championships
Fans will know that the Miami Heat are one of the younger franchises in the NBA. However, they have managed to win 3 NBA titles in recent history. The Heat drafted Dwyane Wade and managed to acquire Shaquille O’Neal from the Los Angeles Lakers. Thus, the team ended up winning the 2006 NBA championship.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh soon joined the Miami Heat a few years later and managed to help the franchise win two more NBA championships. Considering that Shaq and LeBron were acquired by the Heat as opposed to drafted and raised by the Heat, Arenas pointed out that they traded for NBA titles and dismissed Heat culture.
“Your championships aint built on your atmosphere, that’s the smoking mirror. Your championship was built on you drafted Dwyane Wade who was a worker, you brung in Shaquille O’Neal Gary Payton and all…We seen they was in the club…..that roster itself, there was 15 players, 12 were lottery picks. So you had some of the most talented players and they were just that good. Then you bring in LeBron James and Chris Bosh…”
Arenas went on to drive his point home, “That ain’t got nothing to do with your work ethic, The idea that we build championships, no you trade for championships. Building a championship is what Golden State did. That’s building a championship.”
Gilbert Arenas says the Heat need to go back to acquiring superstars and stop worrying about hard working role players

This certainly is an interesting take that fans might find as a matter of debate. After all, the recent postseason success that the Heat have been seeing might disprove some of his notions. Then again, we shouldn’t forget that the Heat acquired Jimmy Butler in order to make it twice to the NBA Finals.
