SUMMARY
- Trayce Jackson-Davis posterized Victor Wembanyama during the Warriors' beatdown of the Spurs.
- The projected 2024 Rookie of the Year claimed it didn't bother him at all.
Victor Wembanyama has been nothing less than incredible during his rookie campaign. The 19-year-old is arguably one of the best projects of this generation. We often get into heated debates about whether current players are worthy of replacing legendary athletes once they retire. In Wembanyama’s case, only time will tell how far he gets his name out there. But based on what we’ve seen so far, 20 years from now, he might be a legitimate entry in the GOAT debate.

Unfortunately, he will have to put a lot more work into his craft to even remotely challenge players like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. And to win as many championships, he would need to be in a better situation. Having Gregg Popovich as his coach is as good as it gets considering how much experience the veteran has with players like him. But the San Antonio Spurs definitely need to be better, or they might lose Wemby to another competitor.
Victor Wembanyama responds to Trayce Jackson-Davis’ game-clinching poster dunk
The Spurs recently hosted the Golden State Warriors at the AT&T Center. Victor Wembanyama tried his best to help the Spurs get a couple of close calls, however, the Warriors ultimately had the last laugh. But during the fourth quarter of the game, the Warriors’ Trayce Jackson-Davis went against the Frenchman in a 1v1 battle. They started from the three-point arc and moved into the paint. Jackson-Davis posterized Victor during the play, sending him to the floor.
Wemby isn’t fazed after getting dunked on by Trayce Jackson-Davis:
“Getting dunked on is nothing. It’s part of the game. I dunk on a lot of people and a lot of people dunk on me too. But I think I block more often than I get dunked on, so that’s positive.”

In response to the dunk, Wembanyama said, “Getting dunked on is nothing. It’s part of the game. I dunk on a lot of people and a lot of people dunk on me too. But I think I block more often than I get dunked on, so that’s positive.” As a rookie, Wembanyama impressively leads the league in blocks per game averaging 3.4 a night. Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz ranks second averaging 2.7 per game, which is a large margin.
Victor Wembanyama shines despite the Spurs’ loss to the Warriors
The game concluded at 112-102 in favor of the Warriors. Though the Spurs were defeated, a couple of players had note-worthy performances. Coming off the bench Zach Collins recorded 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and one steal. Devin Vassell shot 5-8 from deep while Victor Wembanyama had 27 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and one steal.
This was a surprising victory for the Warriors who were without Stephen Curry. The 2x league MVP rolled his ankle against the Chicago Bulls and is expected to miss a couple of games. It was Jonathan Kuminga and Klay Thompson that led the Warriors to a good victory. They rank 10th in the Western Conference while the Spurs sit at the bottom of the standings.
