In the latest episode of “The OGs” podcast, Udonis Haslem who became the longest-tenured player in the Heat‘s history made an appearance. During this, he revealed untold Heat stories and spoke about the impact that James had on his teammates. Amidst this, Haslem emphasized that there were times when if LeBron needed a break or he was hurt or whatever, they could get the same production from Wade.
Furthermore, he said, “We’re talking about a guy who was, at one point, considered the best in the world.” After this, Haslem who played with both James and Wade did not hesitate before declaring, “He [Wade] could have won the MVP that year, he probably should have won.” This didn’t come as a surprise for fans as over the years it has come to light that numerous people share this opinion.

During one of his interviews, he spoke about how if Kobe Bryant and LeBron James were removed from their teams, the respective teams would be still great. However, the same can’t be said about Wade and the Miami Heat.
Jordan emphasized that D Wade carried the Miami-based team in 2008-09 and he was so great that he deserved the MVP title in 2009 instead of James. Notably, while Wade wasn’t named MVP that year, he did win scoring champion which is undeniably a big achievement in itself.
Dwyane Wade believes that 2009 was his MVP year
Dwyane Wade who spent almost two decades of his life in the NBA holds the belief that the 2009 year was his MVP year. During an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, the former basketball player was asked to share his first-hand experience and whether he deserved to win the title. To this, Wade responded by saying, “Of course,” however, he also emphasized that he understands why LeBron James won the MVP title.
Furthermore, he discussed how according to him the teams’ performances played a significant role in this decision. The Cleveland Cavaliers won 66 regular season games and topped the Eastern Conference whereas, the Miami Heat won 43. “As an individual player, yeah, that was my MVP year,” the 3-time NBA champion said confidently towards the end.
