SUMMARY
- Donovan Mitchell has missed two games due to a bone bruise in his left knee.
- He has been receiving PRP treatment to help heal the injury.
Donovan Mitchell has been a vital organ to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Though his arrival to the Eastern Conference team didn’t necessarily seem to be in his best interests, the Cavaliers have proven otherwise. Now, the team ranks only one game behind the second-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Mitchell’s leadership has played an important role in their emergence. While they haven’t shown too much championship potential, they still have a good chance of a deep playoff run.

Mitchell has been dealing with an injury. It was against the Chicago Bulls that he last played. The double overtime thriller barely saw any productive minutes from Mitchell except during the final moments. The 5x NBA All-Star could not help his team win and finished only with 19 points in 44 minutes. Cleveland has played without Mitchell in their last two matchups. They have achieved a 1-1 record during this time.
Donovan Mitchell received a PRP injection to treat a bone bruise
The Cavaliers have revealed that Donovan Mitchell has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee. He would have possibly endured the injury at some point during the Bulls game. This season, Mitchell has been averaging 28 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. He has proven himself as a phenomenal scorer who is a big part of the Cavaliers’ offensive schemes. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers have not achieved the best record in his absence either, going 7-6 without him on the floor. As he is expected to miss a few more games, all the pressure to maintain their position as the third seed will fall on Darius Garland and Caris LeVert.
Donovan Mitchell is expected to miss the Cavaliers’ next three games
The Cavaliers have projected that Donovan Mitchell will miss their next three matchups against the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Two of their next three games will be against teams with the best record in either conference. Mitchell’s scoring efforts are usually what helps the Cavaliers remain up top during games. He isn’t known as the greatest defender, which is why when he is on the floor, his teammates focus on making the right plays to give him a chance to score.
Mitchell missing the next three games could ruin his chances of being named to an All-NBA team. Based on his contributions this season, Mitchell was bound to crack some sort of All-NBA team. The league requires a player to have a minimum of 65 appearances to qualify for regular season accolades. Mitchell has already missed 13 games.
