LeBron James is one of the only 2 basketball players to have a value of over the $1 billion mark. The Los Angeles Lakers forward is arguably the best player in the league and has branched his value across various deals. King James has a brand of his own. He could shoot up the value of any franchise single-handedly. Despite not owning any stake in the NBA he has shares in other sports as part of his portfolio.
Most people are aware of King James owning a minority stake in the English Premier League Giants, Liverpool Football Club. He is an avid supporter of the Merseyside club in England and owns 2% of the English giants. Besides that, in the United States, he also owns minority stakes in NHL’s, Pittsburgh Penguins. Nonetheless, LeBron has invested in a minority stake in MLB’s Boston Red Sox.

The Boston Red Sox is majorly owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) which also owns Liverpool F.C. So through FSG LeBron owns a minority stake in the Red Sox. FSG announced a $750 million infusion with several investors, in which LeBron is also a part of the private infusion. However, it is still unclear how much King James has staked on the Boston-based franchise. Nevertheless, his investment in LFC has made him an astonishing return.
James became a part-owner of the Red Sox in 2021, which has helped the baseball team gain popularity. With James being a part of the Red Sox, the team is bound to be successful with such a popular figure on board.
Which MLB team does LeBron James support?
When it comes to his favorite Baseball team, the Boston Red Sox does not seem to be on the top of his list. One would assume that part Red-Sox owner would be their biggest supporter. However, that is not the case. Since his early days, he supported his hometown’s franchise the Cleveland Indians, since he is a native of Ohio.

Back in 2016, the All-Time leading scorer in the NBA spoke about his support for the New York Yankees. “I’m a supporter of winners. As a kid growing up, I needed inspiration to get out of the situation I was in. I loved the Bulls, Cowboys and loved the Yankees…That’s part of the reason I loved those teams but I definitely support what the Indians are doing right now,” said James.
Despite his support for the Indians and the Yankees, James sought an opportunity to be a part of an MLB franchise. James’ affiliations with FSG could be part of the reasons he decided to go with the Red Sox to own a franchise.
