SUMMARY
- Anthony Davis' record vs Domantas Sabonis went to 0-9 after the Lakers' recent loss to the Kings.
- The pair have gone head-to-head since 2016, and AD still hasn't won a game.
Anthony Davis has cemented his place in the Los Angeles Lakers starting lineup. Alongside LeBron James, he led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship during the bubble. Although critics have invalidated the team’s title win, the ring will still count in their careers. As for Davis, he has struggled to replicate that form in recent years, with his injury troubles being the major reason.
Despite giving countless NBA rivals sleepless nights, there is a player who always seems to get the better of AD. It is none other than Sacramento Kings superstar Domantas Sabonis. The player has proven his worth with the Kings in the last few years, alongside De’Aaron Fox. He boasts a 9-0 record vs Anthony Davis, one that has left the NBA world in shock.

The Kings recently beat the Lakers 130-120 at the Crypto.com Arena. The loss came despite LeBron James’ best efforts. Anthony Davis had a rather subpar night in the scoring department, making just 14 points, but managed to bag 11 rebounds.
On the other hand, Sabonis was impressed in the paint and managed to bag a triple-double. He put up 16 points, 20 rebounds, and 12 assists against the Lakers on the night.
Anthony Davis’ head-to-head record and stats breakdown
AD and Sabonis first faced each other in 2016, when the former was with the New Orleans Pelicans. Sabonis was playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder at the time. In 43 minutes, AD made 37 points and 15 rebounds but still lost the game to the Thunder. The Lithuanian-American player made just 5 points in the game but walked away with the win.
But AD has managed to put up a double-double quite often. Out of nine games, Davis has missed out on it on just four occasions. That certainly proves that he frequently has a decent game vs Sabonis from an individual aspect. Sabonis struggled to make more than 10 points in the first four games but has put up a double-double in every game since then.
Anthony Davis is averaging 23.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 9 games vs the 27-year-old, whose averages are 12.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 9 games. AD edges Sabonis in the individual numbers, but the teams’ wins are what count at the end of the day.
