The New York Knicks have been one of those teams that have been included in a lot of trade discussions and rumors throughout the NBA offseason. Many fans might have heard that they were seriously interested in acquiring Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers. However, they were clearly unable to acquire him or any other significant star in the offseason.
Although the NBA season has just begun, trade rumors regarding the Knicks seem to continue. Recent reports reveal that they have shown interest in acquiring a talented center that could give them enough offensive firepower in order to turn into contenders in the Eastern Conference.
With that being said, let us take a closer look at which player the New York Knicks are interested in acquiring and whether they will be able to make this desire come true.
Will the New York Knicks make a trade for Karl-Anthony Towns?
Even if the Philadelphia 76ers wanted to trade away Joel Embiid, which they clearly have no intention of doing, they would not move him to another Eastern Conference team such as the Knicks that could already cause them problems in a playoff series.
Since the Knicks have probably realized that Embiid is off-limits at the moment, recent reports reveal that they are interested in acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is a talented big who could undoubtedly give the Knicks enough talent when put alongside Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett.

Over the years, KAT has not seen much success with the Timberwolves and could potentially feel like leaving the team. Especially with Anthony Edwards’ rise to stardom in the NBA. However, acquiring him will not be an easy task for the Knicks.
Even if they throw in multiple draft picks and future assets, Towns has already signed a 4-year contract extension with the Timberwolves that will only kick in next season. Since Minnestoa will have him locked in for 5 years, they will want a lot in return from the Knicks if they are even willing to trade KAT in the first place.
We look forward to seeing if the New York Knicks are able to make any significant moves to improve their roster for the NBA season.
