Injuries in sports are a more frequent phenomenon than we know. Some injuries, like the one that Golden State Warriors’ star Klay Thompson suffered, can be career-defining. Recently, in an appearance on Paul George’s Podcast P, Klay Thompson addressed how Paul George’s recovery from his injuries was inspirational to Klay.

Klay admitted that he was there when PG’s injury happened. “I couldn’t wait to tell you bro; you really inspire me, I was there when that happened bro. I saw it,” said Thompson. George suffered a handful of the most horrific injuries in his career. While the majority of athletes succumb to these devastating injuries, George recovered in a heroic way. Recently, he spoke with Klay Thompson, another player who had recently undergone a very similar experience.
The former MVP front-runner PG13 went through 6 surgeries while recovering from his wounds, which is inspirational to anyone who loves sports. As someone who recently underwent a very similar experience, Thompson was fully aware of what occurs in these circumstances.
After rupturing his ACL, Thompson missed the 2019–20 season and the 2020–21 campaign due to an Achilles tendon injury.
Klay Thompson’s ACL and Achilles injuries cost him 2 NBA seasons
Thompson had been out of action for 941 days after tearing the ACL in his left knee in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against Toronto. In November 2020, while recovering from surgery for that ailment, he tore his right Achilles tendon while scrimmaging on his own.
As the Raptors defeated Golden State 114-110 to claim the NBA championship, Thompson suffered a knee injury late in the third quarter. After suffering a strained right calf during Game 5, Kevin Durant underwent surgery just the day before. He had been out for more than a month. In January 2022, Klay appeared in court once more.
Both Paul and Klay have suffered enough due to injuries on the court. Thompson’s left knee ACL was torn during the 2019 NBA Finals, keeping him out of action for the following season. He then sustained a torn right Achilles tendon prior to the 2020–21 season, which kept him out for an additional entire season and more.
Thompson didn’t make his eagerly anticipated comeback until January of the 2022 season. Given that he had recently recovered from not one but two serious injuries, he appeared better than anyone could have imagined. He averaged 20.4 points in the 32 regular-season games he played in, the third-highest scoring average any player has ever put up after missing two straight seasons.
