Does Jrue Holiday lament being traded to the Boston Celtics by the Milwaukee Bucks? As many NBA fans should certainly be aware, both the Bucks and Celtics made significant changes to their roster this offseason in order to take another step closer to winning an NBA title.
The Bucks ended up trading away Jrue Holiday and acquired Damian Lillard. On the other hand, the Celtics acquired Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers, who had just gotten him for Damian Lillard, and also managed to trade for Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards.
Although Holiday played an instrumental role in helping the Bucks finally win an NBA title in 2021, he was traded away. One must certainly wonder how Holiday felt about this decision made by his former team. With that being said, let us take a closer look at what he had to say when discussing this issue.
Jrue Holiday helped the Boston Celtics defeat his former team
Up until this point, it was unclear which team got better by a larger extent between the Bucks and Celtics after their latest additions in the NBA offseason. After all, both teams started off the NBA season quite well. However, things got clearer when the Celtics managed to defeat the Bucks with a final score of 119-116.
Although Jrue Holiday scored a mere 5 points on 1 of 8 shooting from the field and 1 of 5 from the three-point line, his defensive presence for the Celtics was certainly felt in this game. Additionally, Holiday also managed to grab 8 rebounds and secure additional possessions for his team.
When asked about being traded from Milwaukee, Holiday merely stated that he wished that he would have been told in advance, “A warning would’ve been cool.”

Unfortunately for all the players in situations similar to Jrue, teams rarely disclose trade details to the player and the public until things are finalized. After all, the relationship between the player and his franchise could be ruined if he was constantly involved in trade rumors that never materialized.
Coming back to Holiday and the Bucks, fans should undoubtedly be wondering if the Milwaukee Bucks will end up regretting trading him away to acquire Damian Lillard.
Will the Milwaukee Bucks regret trading away Holiday?
From the Bucks’ perspective, trading away Holiday in return for Dame was certainly the right call. After all, the team has plenty of size and scoring as opposed to outside shooting. Therefore, there is no denying that the Bucks needed Damian Lillard’s scoring.
Now that the Celtics have defeated the Bucks in their first matchup of the NBA season, fans must be wondering if the Celtics have emerged victorious in this offseason despite missing out on getting Damian Lillard. We will have to let the rest of the season unfold in order to know which team benefited from their trades more.
