Mac McClung is someone that the NBA is very familiar with. A name that immediately takes most of us back to the 2023 NBA All-Star Games Dunk Contest. The point guard has been around the league for three years. He has been playing for a couple of G League teams throughout three seasons earning a couple of crucial accolades along the way.
The 24-year-old went undrafted in 2021 but was granted a deal by the South Bay Lakers. There he made the G League All-Rookie Team and won the Rookie of the Year as well. During this time the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers allowed him to play a main-stage game each. He recorded 2 points for the Bulls, and 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist for the Lakers. But he decided to compete consistently for the Delaware Blue Coats, the Philadelphia 76ers G League affiliate.
Mac McClung earned a solid reputation following the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend. He became the first G League player to win in a Dunk Contest as well. Later during the 2022-23 season, the Sixers included him in the rotation and he participated in two games. He averaged 12.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. And during the Sixers’ regular season finale against the Brooklyn Nets, he recorded an impressive 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Mac McClung has signed an Exhibit 10 Deal with the Magic worth $2 million
With the conclusion of the 2022-23 season came the end of his two-way deal with the Sixers. Mac McClung spent most of his time playing in the G League as well. So the Sixers did not extend any offers making him a free agent. Such talent should never be wasted and the Orlando Magic were the ones to realize his worth. They offered him an Exhibit 10 contract worth $2.01 million for one year.

For context, an Exhibit 10 contract means that Mac McClung can participate in training camp with the Magic ahead of the season. But this contract can also be converted into a two-way deal ahead of the regular season based on what they perceive of him as a player. During his time with the Blue Coats, McClung averaged 19.8 points, 5 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game. Delaware also won the G League title with his help.
“I’m not really worried what other people think, good or bad, I’m staying the course. My goal is to make an impact in the NBA, and I’m just going to keep working until that happens,” told reporters according to Bleacher Report. If he proves his worth the Magic will allow him to participate alongside Gary Harris, Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, and Jalen Suggs. Obviously, not to forget Anthony Black‘s arrival as well. It is unlikely that he will receive more minutes but that’s up to him to convince the Magic.
