Jonathan Haggerty is a prodigy to have come out from England, like all Muay Thai fighters of Thai origin he has been training from the juvenile age of seven. Haggerty was first trained under the watchful eyes of his father, Jon Haggerty Sr. Only a few years down the line Jonathan Haggerty began competing and started to pull medals.
The champion has attracted a number of new fans to the sport, especially after displaying his excellent striking. There have been many kickboxers who have come out of the United Kingdom, but none strike like Haggerty does.
Liam Harrison, a famous English kickboxer who is also considered to be one of the greatest in the country, remains a technical striker. Jonathan Haggerty’s technique is textbook perfect. The other fighters are nowhere close to his proficiency.

His ability to feint and land kicks from weird angles sets him apart from other English fighters. It is almost impossible for his opponents to telegraph his strikes due to his agile elbow strike ability.
Haggarty made a name for himself after becoming the only non-Thai fighter to have defeated the legendary Sam-A Gaiyanghadao. He went on to become the ONE championship flyweight Muay Thai champion.
Later, after transitioning to bantamweight, he went head-to-head with ONE’s Nong-O Hama, seizing the bantamweight title as well. ‘The General’ has fought Rodtang Jitmuangnon twice and has a record of 6-2 with the promotion.

‘The General’ has a perfect balance between his technique and skills and can be compared with the Thai fighters. His aggression going into fights is what makes the audience fall in love with his performance. All these attributes are what will make Haggerty one of the best English kickboxers.
Is Jonathan Haggerty married?
The 26-year-old has been appreciated by a large number of Thais, who have been head-over-heels by his technique and skill set. Haggerty comes from a humble background; he grew up on Walworth Road, London. His parents are Jon Haggerty (father) and Lisa Haggerty (mother). He has two younger sisters, and a younger brother, Freddie Haggerty, who is also following in his elder brother’s footsteps.
Jon Haggerty Sr. has greatly influenced both of his sons; he has dedicated most of his life to teaching them the art of striking. Well, this has brilliantly paid off, as he has received a higher return than his initial investment. Haggerty Senior was a former English kickboxer himself.
