Allycia Rodrigues left her family for her Muay Thai career
Allycia Rodrigues reached the very top of the sport when she defeated Stamp Fairtex at a ONE Championship event for the atomweight title. Since then, the Brazilian striker has seen nothing but success. However, she almost chose a completely different sport. In an interview with ONE, Allycia revealed that she was more interested in playing soccer as her father was a professional soccer player.
However, it soon changed when she was acquinted with Muay Thai. Talking about her decision to pick up fighting, Rodrigues added that the adrenaline of the sport was what attracted her to the sport. Rodrigues came to know about combat sports at the age of 8. Training Muay Thai in Brazil was not ideal and it was hampering her ability to develop as a fighter. Hence, she moved out of Brazil to pursue her dreams.

Allycia had difficulities adapating to the new culture in Asia at the begining. However, after she settled in, Rodrigues met Jose Neto and got involved in a relationship. After she became pregnant, Allycia’s mother came to Thailand to help her with pregnancy and motherhood. Allycia is extremely grateful to have the presence of her mother in her life and the fighter has thanked her mother for holding her hands through all the difficulties in life.
She said, “My mother has supported me since my first fight. Although always with a heavy heart and fear of injury due to it being a contact sport, she never let me give up.” Rodrigues further added, “Every day, I learn a lot from her to be a good mother to my son and a responsible and loyal person to my family.”
