Arsenal’s resurgence in recent seasons has brought excitement, enthusiasm, and hope to the fanbase. Despite that, silverware is still something that is missing from the club’s project. The Gunners will know that a few alterations are required for Arsenal to get back amongst the trophies. Mikel Arteta and his staff are undoubtedly exploring the players to sign as well as deciding on those who could potentially say goodbye to the Emirates in the coming months.
Fabio Vieira’s uphill battle to establish himself at Arsenal so far
Arsenal completed the signing of Fabio Vieira from Portuguese club, Porto in 2022 for a reported fee of around $44 million. His transfer was a result of the scouting system of Arsenal who recognized his talent early on. Vieira was highly appreciated at the Emirates due to his ability to play primarily as an attacking midfielder but also as a false nine and even deeper in the midfield. His traits were at the time thought to be perfectly in sync with Arteta’s demands.

Two seasons later, Fabio Vieira has appeared in just 33 Premier League fixtures, most of them off the bench. He has not lived up to the expectations, scoring just three goals for Arsenal so far. The club’s coaching staff have not been convinced by his efforts and displays in the training sessions, leading to them studying the possibility of letting the 23-year-old leave. With age on his side, Vieira will surely attract interest from several clubs around Europe if he were to be put on the transfer list.
Mikel Arteta aims to strengthen his Arsenal team for next season
The 2023/24 season was a great learning curve for Mikel Arteta. Despite improving on numerous fronts compared to previous campaigns, his side was again beaten to the league championship by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Entering into his fifth full season at Arsenal, Arteta will be under huge pressure to deliver trophies. For that to happen, his side will have to act swiftly in the transfer market to grab valuable signings.
