After a year-and-half absence from professional soccer, Greenwood accepted a loan deal to Getafe in the summer of 2023. Once regarded amongst the most talented youngsters in the world, Mason Greenwood has established himself as an integral part of Pepe Bordalas’ squad who occupy a mid-table spot in the La Liga table.
Despite the support of Getafe during a challenging phase in Greenwood’s career, the forward’s future looks set to be away from the club. During the recent months, several clubs across Europe have enquired his parent club, Manchester United about a potential deal in the summer. La Liga itself has seen potential suitors for Mason Greenwood in the future.
FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid set to miss out on Mason Greenwood
FC Barcelona has expressed an interest in securing the services of Mason Greenwood. Xavi Hernandez and his men have endured a difficult season and will finish the campaign without any silverware. One of the key reasons for that has been the lack of attacking depth at Xavi’s disposal. Greenwood’s versatile nature would have provided the Barcelona squad with a much-needed solution.
However, as reported by Spanish outlet, Marca, Manchester United has set a $65 million price tag on Mason Greenwood. Owing to Barcelona’s challenging financial health currently, the move looks to be far away from materializing. The Blaugrana have several issues to address in their squad and cannot afford to spend a huge amount on a single arrival.

Diego Simeone’s side too has faced an underwhelming campaign, sitting just five points above the fifth place in the La Liga table. Atletico Madrid has been linked with several forwards recently to refresh their frontline, with one of them being the English star, Mason Greenwood.
