It looks like Klay Thompson plans to leave the Golden State Warriors and many NBA fans do not seem too sad to hear that he is not expected to be a part of the team heading into next season. The majority of the basketball world will know that Thompson is the shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors and is considered by many to be one of the best long-distance shooters in the history of the NBA.
Alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Klay has won 4 championships throughout his career. However, his play has declined significantly over the past few seasons. Additionally, recent reports reveal that he is not expected to sign a new deal with the Golden State Warriors this offseason. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
Klay Thompson is not expected to sign a new contract with the Golden State Warriors
Heading into last season, Klay Thompson was on an expiring contract with the Warriors. Instead of preemptively signing a new deal, Klay decided to bet on himself and his play this season in order to convince Golden State that he was worth more than what they were willing to offer.
However, his desire clearly did not occur. Not only did Thompson not live up to expectations this season. He was scoreless in the Warriors’ final game of the season and unable to contribute offensively in an elimination game. Thompson was not cut any slack for this lackluster performance and was criticized heavily by Warriors fans.
Momentum is building towards Klay Thompson leaving Golden State and searching for a fresh start, even if the Warriors make him a competitive offer, per @anthonyVslater

This undoubtedly had a significant impact on his decision to stop following all Warriors-related pages on social media. Now, reports indicate that he is not expected to sign a new deal with the team, even if they end up offering him a deal that could match rival offers. However, fans do not seem to think that losing Klay will affect their team to a great extent.
The majority of fans think that the Warriors will be better without Klay Thompson
Although Klay Thompson has won 4 championships with the Golden State Warriors and has played an integral part in converting the team into a dynasty, fans do not seem to be feeling a great deal of sadness over the fact that he plans to leave the team, “Thank u for ur service but let me help you pack!!”

There is no denying that this is a bad way to treat a player who has spent more than a decade of his career with a team. Therefore, one can certainly understand why Thompson feels the need to leave the Warriors and go somewhere else. In any case, the NBA world is left wondering which team Klay will join to start the next season.
