Due to recent changes in his career, Ricochet has been the most talked-about name on the WWE roster in recent days. The One and Only informed the Stamford-based promotion that he intended to extend his contract once it ended in the summer. Amidst this, the most recent RAW show was thought to be his final appearance for the company.
Ricochet assisted Ilja Dragunov in making his way backstage on the June 10 episode of Monday Night RAW, following the latter’s loss to Bron Breakker during the three-hour program. However, Bron assaulted them by spearing Ilja while Ricochet was helping him backstage. The One and Only took a lot of damage from Breakker while attempting to save Dragunov.
The former United States Champion was heavily assaulted by Breakker who gained a lot of headlines for the way he decimated the 5-foot 9-inch superstar. Breakker’s vicious attack leaves Ricochet with the intention of exacting retribution on the former NXT star, so WWE made sure to leave him on a high note. Fans are adamant that he won’t rejoin the company once he leaves.
“Why would he take that bump, my god?” someone questioned, referring to his appearance where he consented to such an attack. Being his reported last appearance, fans were not happy seeing such a brutal segment to send off the high flyer. “This is really all they did with Ricochet the entire time he was there.”, wrote another user regarding the poor treatment the company gave to the Superstar throughout his career.

Samantha Irvin’s response demonstrates the severity of the attack in addition to that of the fans. When Ricochet was being wheeled out of the arena in an ambulance, Samantha was heading towards the backstage area. This shows how well WWE wrote The Only and Only off TV following his final appearance.
What went wrong with Ricochet in WWE? A look at his mediocre career
Known as Prince Puma all around the globe before joining the WWE, Ricochet has a lot of championships from various independent wrestling promotions under his name. Upon his arrival at the scene in 2018, he made his debut by joining the NXT brand. No one can forget the classics he gave with the likes of Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, and many other high-profile superstars.
On his main roster debut in 2019, things weren’t as smooth as they seemed to be for the One and Only. After having a mid-card title feud with AJ Styles, Ricochet was involved in various lower-card feuds and was seen as a filler on the show. The extent of his bad booking decisions peaked during his WWE Title match against Brock Lesnar which saw him lose under two minutes.

During his final storylines, fans saw hope in his booking as he faced Logan Paul in a rivalry match at SummerSlam 2023. Despite being heavily favored to win the match during the hype, Paul clinched the victory and their feud ended leaving Ricochet with temporary storylines. His technical abilities have never been in question showing his passion for the sport.
Ricochet might end up in AEW with a lot of dream matches in-store
The fans have been discussing The One and Only’s future after Bron Breakker received a lot of attention for his actions on Monday Night RAW. Though there are many possibilities, there is a theory in the community that Ricochet may sign with AEW following the expiration of his WWE contract.
Will Ospreay’s recent remarks regarding the 5-foot-9 athlete, in which he expressed his desire to face Ricochet in All Elite Wrestling, are a major contributing factor to this conjecture. Tony Khan’s practice of bringing in elite free agents is another factor that raises the chance of this happening. It won’t be shocking to see him do it again because he has done it before.

With everything going on, there’s a good chance Ricochet will sign with the Jacksonville-based promotion come summertime. There would be a tonne of intriguing storylines in AEW waiting for The One and Only if it were to truly happen. However, everything hinges on what the former US champion chooses to do after his WWE contract expires.
