Kurt Angle is a huge name in the world of pro wrestling. He once absolutely dominated WWE television with his exceptional in-ring skills. With his talent inside the ring, he bagged several championships. Not to mention, he is a WWE Hall of Famer. However, the wrestling legend previously accused the Stamford-based promotion of stealing from TNA.
Earlier, WWE featured an onscreen affair between John Cena and AJ Lee. The storyline was intriguing and drew the attention of a lot of fans. However, many found similarities between WWE’s Cena and Lee storylines and TNA’s AJ Styles, Dixie Carter, and Claire Lynch storylines.
With respect to that, WWE Hall of Famer, who was then a part of TNA, accused the Triple H-led promotion of stealing concepts from his then employer. Angle took to his ‘X‘ handle to mention the Cena and Lee angle and stated that WWE completely stole it from TNA. Angle wrote, “Staged “affair” between AJ Lee & @JohnCena, w/date pic & hotel video? WWE outright lifting TNA concepts?”

It is to be noted that not only Kurt Angle but AJ Styles also previously took a shot at WWE for stealing the infamous TNA storyline. Styles during an episode of TNA said, “I was dealing with some issues. Not my issues, but someone else’s, where pictures were being taken, videos were being made of AJ Styles getting into an elevator with someone of the opposite sex. (It) seems to be the new fad if your name is ‘AJ’”.
However, despite every accusation, the affair between John Cena and AJ Lee was well sold by the Stamford-based promotion. It made a huge impact on the viewers, and they still talk about the Cena Lee storyline until now.
Kurt Angle shed light on why he left WWE and joined TNA
Kurt Angle was a top-level WWE Superstar. That might be the reason Angle’s departure from the Stamford-based promotion came as a shock to many. Many wondered why such a popular name left WWE. However, previously, Angle mentioned the reason for his WWE departure and arrival in the world of TNA.
Angle said, “Well to be honest with you I don’t think I would’ve worked with them if I did not go to TNA so when I left WWE in 2006, I was burned out. I was having a painkiller problem, I was having a lot of injuries. I was working 300 days a year and I just wasn’t enjoying it anymore and I had to get out”.
The WWE Hall of Famer added that he knew it was for his good health, which is why he decided to opt for a smaller promotion and do comparatively fewer shows. He mentioned that TNA gave him that ability and also paid him well.
Thus, it can be understood that health reasons were the factor that the WWE legend chose to become a part of TNA, leaving behind the Triple H-led promotion. However, he went on to make a huge name for himself as a part of TNA, and his stories from both promotions are still talked about among his fans.
