SUMMARY
- Vincent Kompany is close to landing the Bayern Munich job.
- However, Bayern Munich fans are not overly excited about the potential appointment.
Bayern Munich have been kept busy in the managerial market ever since the club and Thomas Tuchel agreed on a mutual separation at the end of the 2023/24 season. The German giants have been coached by some of the most accomplished coaches in their history, making the task of appointing a new manager ever more challenging for the management of the club.
Unsurprisingly, several names have been linked to the Bayern Munich job including the likes of Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick, and Julian Nagelsmann, but the Bavarian club was not able to strike a deal with any of those names. Having endured a difficult campaign this time, Bayern are now opting to go for a young coach and providing enough time to build a triumphant project.

According to reports in Germany, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl is pushing for the arrival of Vincent Kompany as the club’s next manager. An agreement is rumored to be close between the two parties. Kompany‘s name has come as a surprise to the Bayern fanbase considering his lack of experience managing at the top level. Nonetheless, the Bayern hierarchy is confident in the Belgian’s ability to bring back glory to the biggest club in the Bundesliga.
Fans react as Vincent Kompany nears Bayern Munich job
Bayern Munich’s interest in Vincent Kompany has not failed to astonish the soccer world. Kompany, who is currently handling managerial duties at Burnley, will be faced with a huge burden of responsibility if the deal does go through. The club’s fans who were initially skeptical of the appointment have now displayed faith in the 38-year-old. The neutral and rival fans, on the other hand, did not fail to have a go amusingly at the Manchester City legend.

Please give him time, Bayern fans. I believe he can actually turn our playing style around to play attractive football all again. But it will need support from the club (transfers) and fans (patience). And somebody please shut up Hamann.

The mixed reaction to Bayern choosing Vincent Kompany as their next coach is justified. Having faced relegation with Burnley in the Premier League not so long ago, there will certainly be a good amount of scrutiny on Kompany’s actions as Bayern Munich’s head coach. Managing a dressing room filled with world-class players will surely be one of the biggest tests yet in Kompany’s young career as a soccer coach.
A look at Vincent Kompany’s managerial career so far
Vincent Kompany left his beloved club, Manchester City in the summer of 2019. At City, the defender established himself as one of the best players in his position in the world. Following his departure, he joined his boyhood club, Anderlecht taking over as a player-manager. Having been coached by Pep Guardiola in the latter stages of his career, many were eager to witness Kompany’s growth as a coach himself.

Characterized by high and counter-pressing, Kompany’s style of play saw his Burnley dominate the EFL Championship during the 2022/23 season where they finished top with 101 points, earning promotion to the top-tier in the process. Although Burnley’s time in the Premier League was a disappointing one with just 24 points throughout the campaign, the Belgian is regarded as one of the most promising managers in the world, thus attracting curiosity from Bayern Munich.
