UFC 299 is in the books and the event featured some very exciting fights. Michael Venom Page won against Kevin Holland in his UFC debut via unanimous decision. In the co-main event, Dustin Poirier knocked out Benoit Saint-Denis with a vicious right hand and Sean O’Malley retained his bantamweight championship in the main event against Marlon “Chito” Vera. After Vera lost, the UFC commentator Joe Rogan had an interesting choice of words to describe his performance.
The main event was not very competitive and the judges’ scorecards show that. O’Malley won via a unanimous decision as all the judges scored the bout 50-45, 50-45, 50-44. During the contest, ‘Suga Sean’ landed a massive knee on Vera that could have knocked any fighter out cold. However, the Ecuadorian fighter kept on going and finished the bout, which impressed Joe Rogan very much.
When the 56-year-old came to interview Vera, he congratulated the bantamweight fighter on his endurance and called him a “f*cking dawg.” However, UFC clipped it out before uploading the segment to their YouTube channel. Rogan also corrected Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik during the broadcast when the two forgot that O’Malley and Vera did fight previously at the UFC 252 main event.
Joe Rogan previously dropped an ‘f-bomb’ for Sean O’Malley at UFC 222
While using curse words is not prohibited from UFC PPVs, commentators, and broadcasters refrain from dropping such words. However, there was a time when Joe Rogan dropped an ‘f-bomb’ during a live PPV. Co-incidentally, it was during his post-fight interview with the other half of UFC 299 main event, Sean O’Malley. The 29-year-old took on Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 in March 2018.
Although he won the contest via a unanimous decision, O’Malley did suffer a brutal injury to his leg which left him flat on his back after the bout. However, Joe Rogan proceeded to interview him regardless. Before the conversation ended, O’Malley told the JRE host, “I f*cking love you, Joe Rogan.” In reply, Rogan added, “Well, I f*cking love you too buddy.”
O’Malley has continued the tradition and has always ended his interviews with the same line whenever the veteran broadcaster speaks to him. What do you think of Rogan dropping the ‘f-bomb’ during the UFC 299 broadcast? Let us know in the comments below.
