SUMMARY
- Joe Pyfer made his way into the UFC after a stellar performance in Dana White's Contender Series.
- Here are some of the walkout songs that Pyfer walked in previously.
Joe Pyfer is one of the brightest upcoming prospects in the UFC right now. Currently unbeaten in the UFC and tearing through the middleweight division, Pyfer is most definitely one to look out for. Additionally, ahead of UFC Vegas 86, the fighter has become a much-talked-about name as well.
Previously, ‘Bodybagz‘ made his way into the UFC after a stellar performance in Dana White’s Contender Series. Owing to a horrific elbow injury against Dustin Stoltzfus, Pyfer was given a second shot at things. Notably, the Pennslyvania native came through, knocking out his opponent in Round 2. Since then, he has been on a roll, going 3-0 in his first three fights, winning all of them by finishes.
However, Pyfer has also drawn a lot of attention to himself after it was revealed that he broke Francis Ngannou’s punch record. A feat that no one was willing to deem legitimate, UFC welterweight Sean Brady and Joe Rogan first shed light on the matter. Moreover, after getting to know his heartbreaking backstory, there are a lot of people who are keen to follow Joe on his journey.
Having battled through depression, the 27-year-old now finds himself as a highly sought-after contender in the UFC. Notably, his performances and hype have also resulted in comparisons between him and Bo Nickal. With both fighters receiving a lot of attention, it will be interesting to see how their careers progress. In the meantime, let’s take a look at Joe Pyfer’s walkout songs and why they are so talked about.
Joe Pyfer vs. Alen Amedovski (UFC Vegas 60)
For his UFC debut, Joe Pyfer took on Alen Amedovski, who was coming off three consecutive losses. Naturally, Pyfer looked like the more comfortable fighter of the two right from the get-go. Whilst it was clear that Amedovski was being made a sacrificial lamb for young blood, the young contender did not let it get to his head. Instead, he applied measured and smart pressure to his opponent.
Eventually, things opened up, and Pyfer landed a huge right on Amedovski, sending him to dreamland. Thus, just as expected, the youngster did well to deal with what he was presented with. On the night, Joe walked out to “Last Breath” by Future. Notably, the song was also a part of the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed 2015 film, Creed starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone.
Pyfer vs. Gerald Meerschaert (UFC 287)
Up next, Joe Pyfer was given yet another build-up fight, this time against middleweight mainstay Gerald Meerschaert. For the most part, the fight was a very watchable addition to the already-hyped UFC 287 card. However, unlike Amedovski, Meerschaert was actually coming off two wins in his last three fights.
Unfortunately, that did not matter much as Pyfer dealt with Gerald even quicker, landing a massive left, before finishing off with some massive ground and pound to end the fight. For this one, Joe made his walk to the ring with the song “No Easy Way Out” by Robert Trapper.
Pyfer vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan (UFC Vegas 80)
As for his latest fight, Joe faced Abdul Razak Alhassan, who was arguably his toughest test yet. Notably, Alhassan has a tendency to stay within himself, defend well, and throw low but heavy volume. Moreover, the 38-year-old looked as though he was content with letting his opponent run the hard yards in the opening. Considering the string of finishes Pyfer had racked up to that point, it was a pretty sensible decision.
For the most part, Abdul Razak was able to stand with Pyfer and even send some fire back. Recognizing his opponent’s durability, Joe tried a different approach in Round 2. Taking hold of his opponent, Joe picked his man up and slammed him to the canvas, before sleeping him with an arm triangle. As for this fight, he once again walked out to a different tune, this time choosing ‘Break the Law’ by Mac Miller.
All things considered, there is no pattern to his song choices, meaning that the fans are in for a surprise every time. As for his upcoming fight against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 86, it will be interesting to see what song Joe chooses for his walk. Either way, fans are in for a treat when he takes to the Octagon to fight against the #11-ranked middleweight contender.
