Joe Pyfer is set to take the UFC middleweight division by storm. The orthodox middleweight is extremely strong and has great potential. He has an impressive record with only two losses in 14 fights. He also possesses the strongest punch record.
American fighter Pyfer was born on September 17, 1996. He made his pro-MMA debut at 21 when he faced Steven Covington on AOW 7: Art of War Cage Fighting 7 in MAY 2018. Pyfer pulled off an extraordinary debut win as he knocked out Covington in the first round.
His next fight was the only fight of his that had gone the distance. He faced Derek Wilson in August 2018 at CES 52: Norwood vs. Wells. Pyfer won the bout via unanimous decision after three rounds.
In his next four fights at AOW and Ring Of Combat (ROC), Pyfer won via stoppages. Two of those wins came via submissions, meanwhile two came via KOs. His first loss came in his seventh pro-MMA bout.
Joe Pyfer has lost thrice in his career
Pyfer’s first loss came against Jhonoven Pati at ROC 70: Ring Of Combat 70 in November 2019. The American succumbed to a submission in the second round of the match. This was Pati’s debut in Ring Of Combat and he went on to fight in Dana White’s Contender Series along with Pyfer. Pati faced a second-round TKO loss against Jamie Pickett in August 2020 and never made a move into the UFC.
On the other hand, Pyfer faced Chase Gamble next at ROC: Ring of Combat 71 in January 2020. Pyfer pulled off a TKO win in the second round to avoid consecutive losses.
Soon after, came Pyfer’s shot at DWCS in August 2020. He faced future UFC fighter Dustin Stoltzfus. Unfortunately for Pyfer, he suffered an agonizing elbow injury in the second week of DWCS which was the reason he suffered his second loss. Stoltzfus defeated Pyfer via TKO in the first round.
The Pennsylvania native, however, did not waver. He fought at CFFC 104: Bilder vs. Buenafuente and defeated Austin Trotman next. Right after, he got another chance at DWCS as he faced Ozzy Diaz in season 6. Pyfer defeated Diaz and went on to become the first fighter to earn a UFC contract in the first week of DWCS. He defeated former Bellator fighter Diaz to break One Hit’s five-match win streak.
Following his own five-match win streak after the loss against Stoltfuz, Pyfer faced another defeat. Jack Hermansson systematically dismantled Pyfer at UFC Vegas 86 in February 2024. Pyfer tried to finish the match early on but Hermansson did well to keep him out. Pyfer’s power kept diminishing over the five rounds. The Swedish-Norwegian fighter won the bout via unanimous decision.
