Joe Hendry is rapidly becoming well-known to the WWE Universe, particularly in light of his recent appearance on NXT. Because of his popular entrance song, “I Believe in Joe Hendry,” he now has a wider following across the globe. Nevertheless, the Scottish wrestler used to be a young adolescent who adored WWE. He just related a sweet anecdote about how his best friend set up a call with John Cena when he was just 15.
Joe Hendry said that he was sadly unable to go to a WWE show with his friend when he was 15 years old in interview with Chris Van Vliet for the Insight podcast. Surprisingly, Cena granted his friend’s request to speak with him over the phone during the meet and greet. The 36-year-old celebrity recalled spending ten minutes with him and had faith in his ability to win the world title at WrestleMania.
“Me and John Cena talked for 10 minutes and he let me tell him about my thoughts on creative and he let me have that moment in the conversation when I’m sure the queue was infinite.”, stated Hendry. He further stated how he learned how to keep your fanbase happy from that incident and it changed his life. The Scottish wrestler further added “…you have to remember that each interaction you are having can be infinitely important.”
Joe Hendry names John Cena as one of his inspirations in the professional wrestling industry.
The TNA Superstar stated how The Rock introduced him to the world of WWE and how he liked his promos during the time. When talking about someone who inspires him daily to continue his work, his answer was the Cenation Leader. “To me, John Cena is the person that I pull from the most in what I’m trying to do here. He’s the person I’m inspired by.”, said Joe on his current inspiration in the world of wrestling. Hendry further stated how Cena’s mentality has helped him to be a better performer.
Cena’s mentality of entertaining the crowd without becoming the world champion is what inspired Joe to establish a unique identity for himself. He further stated how he likes to think the way Cena would and loves to contribute more to the promotion.
Joe Hendry wishes to face John Cena amid the TNA-WWE partnership
Hendry is proud of TNA Wrestling and how it has evolved over the years. He highlighted the partnership going on between TNA and WWE and praised Jordynne Grace’s past appearances on WWE shows. During his interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Hendry also talked about the possibility of facing The Franchise John Cena.
“Jordynne Grace was in the Royal Rumble. I’m inspired by that, when I see that nothing is off the table. Are you going to tell me that it’s impossible, for me to face John Cena? You can’t tell me it’s impossible”, said the current TNA Superstar.
Given his excellent rise to stardom, WWE would certainly give Hendry another appearance after his massive NXT showing. In the meantime, Joe continued his rivalry with Frankie Kazarian on TNA and continues to build momentum to become one of the top stars the industry has ever seen.
