Jiri Prochazka was never someone to talk trash about his opponent. In each of his outings inside the UFC Octagon, the Czech native has been quite respectful towards his opponents.
Even when Jamahall Hill called him a “fake samurai“, the former LHW Champion kept his composure and held nothing against the fellow former Champion. On the contrary, Prochazka addressed the “trash talk” in a respectful manner at the post-fight Octagon interview at UFC 300, following his win over Aleksandr Rakic.
Switch to UFC 303, and Jiri Prochazka is making headlines for his bizarre comments on Alex Pereira which involve accusations of cheating and his reasons are simply unbelievable.
Jiri Prochazka says Alex Pereira uses “magic” and “spiritual things” to win fights
Jiri even claimed that he “noticed” Alex Pereira using magic in his fight against Jamahal Hill, and has continued on the same verbal barrage in the days leading up to UFC 303.
More recently during Media Day, Prochazka said. “This is my challenge to him if we can fight in the clear way.” Doubling down on his statement made on The MMA Hour where he first made the accusations, the former Champion said, “Everybody knows that, that he is doing these rituals before the fight. Everybody can feel that, what’s around him and what’s going on and I think Alex can’t fight without them.”
And it’s not like Alex Pereira has paid no heed to these statements. Instead, Poatan has responded in almost an acknowledgement of Prochazka’s claim. “Well, everybody has their own spirits we’re not only made of flesh and bone, I’ve found mine. If he has not found his or if he does not believe, it’s not my fault,” he said.
Alex Pereira is a fighter rooted deeply to his culture and ethnicity, and while that’s no parameter for his success inside the Octagon, the LHW king continues to bring spotlight to his indigenous roots of Potaxo tribe in Brazil.
UFC 303 goes down this weekend inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and boasts a solid undercard to complement the headliner between Pereira and Prochazka. Who do you think gets his hands raised this Saturday? Do let us know in the comments section.
