SUMMARY
- Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich 4-3 in UCL semifinal.
- Afterward, Jamie Carragher took back his previous comments on the Spanish giants.
Jamie Carragher is one of the most controversial soccer pundits in the world. The former Liverpool defender is infamous for his outlandish remarks on matters of soccer, which has attracted widespread criticism from the fans of the sport.
The Real Madrid fanbase in particular has developed a special enmity towards the English pundit. Jamie Carragher has slandered many of the club’s epic victories in the UEFA Champions League, which has upset Real Madrid’s fanbase.
🗣️ Jamie Carragher on Real Madrid: “It’s unbelievable and its not luck, if you keep doing this every single season, its something special, there’s a belief that they will score late on, opposition feel that the goal is going to come.

However, it seems that the 46-year-old has had a change of heart for the Spanish team. Jamie Carragher applauded Real Madrid’s comeback victory against FC Bayern Munich in the UCL 23/24 semi-final 2nd leg, thanks to a masterclass from Joselu.
He said, “It’s unbelievable and it’s not luck, if you keep doing this every single season, it’s something special, there’s a belief that they will score late on, opposition feels that the goal is going to come.”
He also added that Real Madrid has always surprised the 46-year-old in the UCL. However, the English pundit has backtracked on his words terribly by suggesting that Real Madrid’s wins in the competition aren’t flukes. History is filled with instances where Jamie Carragher has undermined the achievements of the Spanish team in the UCL.
Jamie had admitted that Real Madrid’s UCL win in 2022 was because of good fortune
The title win of Real Madrid in the 2021/22 is perhaps one of the greatest UCL runs a team has ever had. ‘Los Blancos’ defeated the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City, and Liverpool en route to lifting the coveted title. What was more exciting about the run was the way Real Madrid had to dig out results from almost a losing position.
However, Jamie Carragher begged to differ in this regard as he almost suggested that Real Madrid’s UCL win in that season was more of a fluke. He said (via ONEFOOTBALL), “I think Real Madrid is one of the luckiest teams to ever win the Champions League. [Against] PSG [they] scored two goals with [12] minutes to go. Chelsea took them to extra time. Man City [they] scored two in the last minute and in the final [Thibaut] Courtois was man of the match.”
🗣️ Jamie Carragher: “Manchester City have been the better team than Real Madrid, but there’s something about Real Madrid in the Champions League.”
And the team that wins the Champions League is not necessarily the best team in Europe.” pic.twitter.com/Gz3KqCiLyj

Carragher even has recently slandered Real Madrid for defeating Manchester City in the UCL QFs 23/24. He commented, “Manchester City have been the better team than Real Madrid, but there’s something about Real Madrid in the Champions League.” And the team that wins the Champions League is not necessarily the best team in Europe.”
Jamie Carragher’s comments are surely very depressing and look to us as if his hate for Real Madrid intensifies especially when an English side receives a knockout punch from the Spanish team. The English pundit should rather practice some impartiality and acknowledge the legacy of Real Madrid in the competition.
Jamie Carragher believes Borussia Dortmund are afraid of facing Real Madrid
The former Liverpool defender has made a complete U-turn on his earlier stance on the Spanish club. He has even gone on to already declare Real Madrid the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League in the 23/24 season. Jamie Carragher believes that Borussia Dortmund is incompetent in winning the title and they would have rather wanted to play against FC Bayern Munich.
He said (via Metro), “I actually think Borussia Dortmund will be devastated as well. They will because they’re playing Real Madrid in the European Cup final. They will have felt that they know Bayern Munich better, they beat them the last time they played them away from home.”
So many teams wanted to play against us. Luckily we are really nice guys and made it to the final so that as many as possible of them get the chance 👀

Perhaps, the comments have arrived at a bad time, when Borussia Dortmund players look determined to beat Real Madrid in the final. The German team has made it clear that they do not feel the need to be afraid of their Spanish counterparts in the final. It would be interesting to see if Jamie Carragher’s words come to be true, and if Real Madrid indeed goes on to win the UCL.
