WWE has been at the forefront in 2024 regarding production quality, overall program quality, and fan attention. On the other hand, AEW has been one of the fastest-rising wrestling promotions giving out spectacular matches each week on AEW Dynamite, Rampage, and AEW Collision. While fans have been trolling AEW all around the internet, NJPW’s Gabe Kidd also joined the party and took a dig at AEW.
While there is a heated battle going on the internet regarding better wrestling promotion between Tony Khan’s AEW and Triple H’s WWE, numerous wrestlers also try to dig into this argument. Gabe Kidd is no stranger to professional wrestling fans as he currently performs on NJPW being a member of the Bullet Club.

During his interview on Los Aws, Gabe talked about NJPW’s upcoming PPV event NJPW Resurgence. When asked about what makes New Japan Pro Wrestling so excited, Gabe didn’t back down in giving a savage reply. “If you like theater go watch WWE. If you are a fat nerd & can’t talk to girls go watch AEW.”, stated Gabe giving a savage reply to all the AEW fans.
He didn’t stop there and called NJPW having all the ‘real stuff’ in his answer. Gabe concluded by saying “If you want to watch the real stuff NJPW. This is where it’s at!”. While he has triggered a lot of fans with his statement, another war of words has been ignited with his statement.
Fans have been arguing about how a less popular superstar is taking digs at high-level promotions such as AEW and WWE. On the other hand, WWE followers admired the dig Gabe took and praised him for comparing WWE Storylines to cinema.
Gabe Kidd looks to win another Championship at NJPW Resurgence
At the moment, Gabriel Kidd is a member of Bullet Club and competes under his real name, stylized as Gabe Kidd, for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Kidd has won the Strong Openweight Tag Team Championship once in his career alongside Bullet Club stablemate Alex Coughlin. Before joining the NJPW in 2020, Gabe was a part of WhatCulture Pro Wrestling where he had some of the best matches of his professional career.
Gabe battled the likes of Cody Rhodes, Joe Hendry, Zack Sabre Jr., and many more professional wrestlers from around the world. In 2023, Gabe joined the villainous faction Bullet Club and instantly had several tag team matches alongside Coughlin. After his NJPW championship win, Gabe looks to add one more to the tally as he faces Eddie Kingston for the Strong Openweight Championship match in a No ropes Last Man Standing match at NJPW Resurgence on May 11.
WWE Superstars have taken a lot of shots at AEW in the past
There is heavy competition between AEW and WWE which serves as a great topic of debate for the fans. The internet wrestling community is filled with debate on the WWE vs. AEW war. Not only fans, but wrestlers also try to take a dig at their rival promotions. Since returning to WWE in 2023, CM Punk has taken a lot of shots on AEW during his promos.
On one of his recent promos on RAW, he referenced his time in the company. Punk made fun of Drew McIntyre and alluded subtly to his days in AEW. After calling McIntyre a choke artist for losing the world title at WrestleMania in less than six minutes, he laughed, saying, “Not like how I’m a choke artist,” and then he said, “Two very different things,” to announcer Pat McAfee.
It must be noted that The Straight Edge Superstar was accused of choking Jack during the backstage altercation they had at the All-In event in London. This wasn’t the only time Punk referred to AEW since his return. Shortly after returning, the Second City Saint appeared on SmackDown and talked about possible opponents he might now face after returning. One person who came up was Kevin Owens, who fought with Austin Theory and Grayson Waller after hitting them both with a single blow during a backstage segment.
It’s true, I saw it. There was real glass everywhere.

Punk then alluded to another of his well-known backstage altercations at AEW using their plot. While the Young Bucks aired the actual footage of Punk and Jack Perry going at it backstage, WWE’s Grayson Waller and Dijak took a savage dig at the company with their own revelation. Grayson Waller announced on social media that he intended to play footage of Austin Theory and him thrashing about the locker room.
It shows how true the competition is between the two companies and how savagely every superstar on the roster is ready to take a dig at the rival promotion. Only time will tell how things will work out in the end for Tony Khan’s AEW and Triple H‘s WWE.
