The Boston Celtics saw a couple of celebrities bless Game 2 with their presence. This leg of the series had a lot of the line for the Celtics especially, considering they’ve never been able to win a Game 2. So the odds were entirely stacked against me. Not only are they fighting to shut down various narratives but they’re also competing against the Indiana Pacers to get the NBA Finals and win the franchise’s 18th title.

Despite celebrating the 10th year anniversary of his second studio album “x” (Multiply), Ed Sheeran attended Game 2 at the TD Garden wearing a Celtics sweatshirt. He was accompanied by singer-songwriter Reneé Rapp. “I feel like fortunate. I’m excited to be here. It’s an exciting game. I know the stakes are high. But it’s going to be good,” said Sheeran. Sheeran has expressed his love for sports in various ways and he’s attended NBA games before with this being his third.
Ed Sheeran says he supports the Celtics for this reason
The 33-year-old has been touring the world with his most recent appearances being in Mumbai, India, and at New York’s well-known Barclay’s Center. It was obvious that Sheeran was at the Garden supporting the Celtics and it turns out that the Grammy Award-winning musician has a personal reason behind his love for the team.
“You know what, I don’t want to jump from too many teams to too many teams. I feel like I’m adopting the Boston Celtics tonight. My dad’s Irish,” Sheeran said. The global star has been spotted at various sporting events including Formula 1 races and soccer matches across the pond in the United Kingdom. “I won’t be yelling at people. I’m so fascinated. In England, we don’t have sports where you can sit on the court,” he added. His presence certainly brought some luck to the Celtics in Game 2.
The Celtics bust Game 2 narratives with a victory
During the first half of the game, the Pacers managed to take a brief 6-point lead before eventually succumbing to the Celtics’ overwhelming defensive efforts. Indiana tops the Celtics offensively averaging 115.2 points per game, which is the highest scoring average in the playoffs. Boston ranks second averaging 110.4 points per game.
Jaylen Brown stepped up offensively leading the Celtics in scoring with 40 points. He just came off an impressive Game 1 showing as well. Brown hit a game-tying three-pointer tightly contested by Pascal Siakam in Game 1. Derrick White and Jayson Tatum had 23 points each while Jrue Holiday contributed 15 points and Payton Pritchard had 12 points coming off the bench.
