Hulk Hogan might still be fit to the core at the age of 70, but there was a time when he put himself into a dark grave of addiction. Apart from getting used to the painkillers, the WWE Hall of Famer also had the dire habit of drinking every single day.
Hulk Hogan sat on the set of Muscle and Health, where he opened up about his addiction. The habit not only caused him to gain weight but also degraded his image in his eyes. He realized that he had just boozed, eaten, and laid down before he decided to adopt the ‘straight-edge’ way of living for the past seven months.

Apart from alcohol, Hogan became quite used to painkillers, and before he realized it, he got addicted. “The pharmacy would call me and say, ‘Your prescription’s ready,’ and like a dog chasing a bone, I’d go pick it up,’ ” confessed Hulk Hogan in the interview. One day, he realized that his body was capable of enduring the pain and that he must quit taking the medicines.

Now, Hogan revealed that he takes CBT, an intoxicating chemical from plants when he is in dire need of painkillers. Currently, he is in a great physical state. It has been over seven months since he quit alcohol. This also helped him lose 40 pounds of flesh and curb his habit of binging on junk food. While he confessed to not quitting it forever, he ensured to knew the limits and did not become addicted again.
Did Hulk Hogan’s addiction begin in WWE?
Speaking to Muscle and Health, Hulk Hogan revealed how alcohol addiction took a heavy toll on his health. The tales of his drinking habits hail from his time in the wrestling industry. In the forty-long years of his pro wrestling career, Hogan spent a lot of time having beer. “We’d have beers before the matches. Beers after the matches. And we’d go to the hotel and all meet down at the bar,” he revealed.
Currently, the Hulkster has quit alcohol, which has helped him get better. There are a few of his friends who compel him into the picture. “I’ve had certain wrestlers look at me in the face and go, ‘If you don’t have a drink with me, you’re not my friend,’ ” he said. Eventually, before he could realize it, the habit turned into an addiction.

During his active run at the Stamford-based promotion, physical pain was a common thing. As a result of this, he got extremely addicted to the prescribed drug. Battling any kind of addiction is no joke and Hulk Hogan had to face both alcohol and the painkillers. Not only did it hamper his natural resistance but also led him to gain weight.
