SUMMARY
- Patrick Beverley has been suspended for 4 games by the NBA.
- Pat Bev may find himself out of the league since he is no longer under contract.
The basketball world was caught off guard after the league announced that Patrick Beverley would be suspended for his actions. To those who might not know, Beverley is an NBA veteran and has established a reputation for himself as a defensive-minded star with a rough mentality.
As the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoffs, Beverley engaged in a few controversial actions and ended his season on a very bad note. Although he offered a public apology for his actions, the NBA has decided to suspend him for 4 games. After hearing about this, fans took to social media in order to make their feelings on the subject clear.
Some NBA fans defend Patrick Beverley by bringing up Jamal Murray
The majority of NBA fans appear to approve of the decision to suspend Patrick Beverley for 4 games. After all, he threw a ball at the courtside fans with a significant amount of force after reportedly being taunted by them. Some have even gone far enough to claim that he will not serve his suspension since he will be forced to leave the NBA, “The joke is that he’ll never serve it since his career is over.”

Others have defended him by stating that some form of discrimination is taking place. After all, Jamal Murray threw a heating pad onto the court in frustration and has only been fined as opposed to being suspended. Suspending one NBA star for crossing the line while ignoring the actions of the other has not been overlooked by the basketball community.
Pat Bev: throws a basketball – suspended 4 games
Jamal Murray: throws a towel at a ref and a heat pack on the court – suspended 0 games

No suspension or anything for someone who threw stuff on the court mid-play though 💀

However, there are quite a few differences between both their cases. Jamal grew frustrated and likely threw the heating pad with the intention of causing some disturbance. On the other hand, Beverley fired a ball twice at the crowd and could have seriously hurt an innocent fan or even children in the process. As a result, one might be able to understand why Beverley is being given the more significant punishment.
Will the Bucks trade Pat Bev this offseason?
If Pat Bev were on a large multi-year contract, there is no denying that the Milwaukee Bucks would be eager to trade him away following his actions. However, he is just on a one-year deal and is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. While he may have a good relationship with Giannis Antetokounmpo, that does not mean the Bucks will overlook his behavior and offer him a new contract.
