The Undertaker has been one of the most loved superstars in WWE history, and despite not being an active wrestler anymore, Taker is still heavily popular. Alongside his professional appearances, his YouTube channel has also helped him stay connected with his fans, and in one of the recent episodes of his podcast, he talked about the legendary John Cena.
On the latest episode of “Six Feet Under With Mark Calaway,” The Phenom talked about the possibility of another title reign for The Cenation Leader. While sharing his thoughts about the idea of giving John a run with championship gold to break Ric Flair’s record by becoming a 17-time WWE Champion, The Deadman stated that the fan-favorite superstar totally deserves it.
The retired in-ring star said, “I think it probably depends on him, whether you know he has the time, he obviously deserves it but I think it basically it just depends on him. I mean he’s put a lot into it and I think whatever he wants to do.” Due to these comments about this idea, it seems that The Undertaker wants to see John Cena become a champion once again, but his wish might never come true in the WWE due to these reasons.
John Cena’s commitments outside of the WWE
A major reason why The Cenation Leader might never get to win the top prize in WWE ever again is John Cena’s commitments outside of the promotion. As the fan-favorite superstar is now a part-time professional wrestler and works in Hollywood, his schedule may not give him the luxury to have a full-fledged run in the Triple H-led promotion.
If John is not going to be around for the longest amount of time, it’s obvious that the company wouldn’t really take the risk of giving him another title victory. As the chances of Cena’s return to in-ring action on a full-time basis are too thin, it seems like The Undertaker’s wish of watching John Cena become a 17-time World Champion might never become a reality.
WWE has used John Cena as a stepping stone in recent years
The Cenation Leader may not be available to carry the entire division as a champion, which is a huge thing, but another thing that decreases the chances of a title-reign for the veteran is his recent booking. WWE has used John Cena as a stepping stone in recent years, and that’s not how championship-worthy performers are booked by the promotion.
The 47-year-old legend has lost to guys like Solo Sikoa and Austin Theory to put them over, and it seems that he’s going to continue doing similar things whenever he comes back to compete in the company. If that’s really the case, there’s no chance that WWE gives John the opportunity to break Ric Flair’s record by having him win the WWE Championship for the seventeenth time in his career.
WWE’s current star power may never let The Undertaker’s wish become a reality
While the above two reasons are related solely to John Cena, the biggest factor that makes it difficult for Cena to ever win a title is the kind of roster WWE has now. Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, CM Punk, and Gunther are some of the biggest names in the company right now, and there are numerous other guys that are waiting for their chances to get into the main event scene in the promotion.
As the talent pool in the company is arguably in its best state in a long time, it’s probably true that The Cenation Leader is nowhere close to getting a reign with the biggest prize in the Stamford-based promotion. Not Just right now, in fact, WWE’s star power may never let The Undertaker’s wish become a reality, as there is enough talent who is ready to take over the main event scene.
