WWE organized a special episode of NXT, as it had a huge battle royal to determine the next challenger for Trick Williams’ NXT Championship. As soon as this match was announced on last week’s show, speculations about possible entrants from TNA began, and Joe Hendry was one of the most talked-about guys to show up.
The audience wanted to see Hendry make his debut for the yellow brand during the specially scheduled match, and he eventually did so on the June 18 episode of WWE’s developmental territory. Joe showed up as an entrant for the Battle Royal and even got the opportunity to cut a promo before the high-profile encounter.
After a great promo on the ramp, Joe Hendry entered the ring and even had a face-off with newly signed NXT performer Ethan Page. But this interaction with Page ended up being his only major moment in the match, as the fan-favorite star was quickly eliminated from the match, which was absolutely shocking, to say the least.
As everyone was backing him to have a strong showing in his NXT debut, this was an unexpected decision for the professional enthusiasts. Moreover, as Joe Hendry is a reputed name in TNA, he probably deserved to get some time in the ring to showcase his skills, but WWE had other plans, and that’s why it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
Audience believes Joe Hendry will make more appearances in WWE
Even though Joe’s debut on NXT didn’t go as he would have expected it to, his fans are pretty optimistic about his future. In fact, the WWE Universe believes Joe Hendry will make more appearances in the Triple H-led promotion, and they’ve been sharing it on social media. Talking about it, someone from the fanbase said, “He is built for the WWE.” (Via: X)
Pointing out how he should be signed by the Stamford-based promotion, a wrestling fan wrote, “I hope when his TNA contract is up, you guys do the right thing.” “I can see this at a Royal Rumble and everyone going crazy singing his song,” a member of the pro wrestling community commented while talking about Hendry’s potential WWE appearances in the future.
Joe Hendry had a word with Shawn Michaels after his NXT debut
Even though the WWE Universe is positive about Joe’s possible appearances in the future, it’s safe to say that his debut wasn’t able to make him look strong. The TNA Superstar was eliminated too soon from the Royal Rumble, and that’s why he was pretty frustrated and even had an interaction with Shawn Michaels.
Joe Hendry had a word with Shawn after his NXT debut, and he accused him of putting 24 guys against him. But, making a strong statement while talking in the face of The Heartbreak Kid, the fan-favorite performer said, “I can show up anywhere, any time, on any show.” Even though he said all this in frustration, it has started a lot of speculation about his possible future with the organization.
Hendry was obviously disappointed by his early elimination on NXT, and that’s why his anger is understandable. But the TNA star wasn’t the only one to be unhappy; even the live crowd was furious by it, and they showed their emotions through chants. If this is the kind of support Joe is going to get in WWE, it’s possible that he ends up receiving a contract from the Triple H-led promotion.
