Nikola Jokic is currently experiencing his best years as a professional athlete in the NBA. Over the last few seasons, big men have been taking over the league with the Joker leading the entire race. Between 2019 and 2020, Giannis Antetokounmpo won back-to-back MVPs. Jokic repeated it for the next two seasons before Joel Embiid finally earned it in 2023. However, Jokic is back to being an MVP after winning the award again this year.

The Denver Nuggets superstar has won his third MVP in four years, which puts him above everyone else in the league right now. Even though he did not win it last season, he managed to lead the Nuggets to the NBA title. But rather than celebrating his success, several people have slammed the league for snubbing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this season. Multiple experts have also claimed that SGA deserved it more than Jokic. But for the 3x MVP, winning a championship is what matters the most.
Natalija Jokic picks on Nikola Jokic’s brain during an exclusive interview with the Nuggets
Ahead of Game 3, Nikola Jokic sat down with the Nuggets’ media team for an exclusive interview. Jokic was asked about his third MVP title by a few of his teammates before being surprised by a special guest via a video recording. Natalija, his wife also took a moment to share some words with the MVP. But what was supposed to be a wholesome moment between the two turned out to be a hilarious exchange.
Natalija said, “Do you remember when you brought your first award home, the shelf kind of looked empty? So I asked you nicely to bring more stuff so we can make it more full. And now, we don’t have any more space. It kind of looks full. So where do you think we should put the third MVP award? But I guess we’re going to find some space.”
Jokic, all red and in laughter responded, “Yes, this [is] true. When I bought my first one, the thing was… like the shelf was empty and kind of look[ed] poor. Now that looks a little bit different, you know. I like it. So, I think if it’s having no space it’s a good thing probably. [A] good problem to have.”
Natalija and Nikola met when they were in high school. The pair tied the knot in October 2020 and they welcomed their only child, their daughter, Ognjena. Natalija and Ognjena often visit Nuggets games cheering on the defending champ.
Nikola Jokic joins Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with an incredible career feat
Even though the world has a lot of mixed opinions on Nikola Jokic winning his third MVP, credit needs to be given where credit is due. Jokic has helped the Nuggets maintain their status as one of the strongest teams in the NBA for many years. Denver certainly had a couple of setbacks this season as well, but the Joker’s dominance echoed throughout the league and the Nuggets secured the second seed in the Western Conference. They were two wins away from the top seed.
