The Theatre of Dreams has turned into a theatre of dramas and controversies. After Mason Greenwood was shipped to Getafe, the Red Devils thought of having a sigh of relief. But the recent rift between Eric Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho has been the point of discussion all over Social Media.
Manchester United signed Sancho in 2020. United paid a transfer fee of $90 million to Borussia Dortmund to acquire the services of the Englishman. But since then, he has been a flop. He has 58 appearances, scoring just 9 goals across all competitions.
When Manchester United appointed Eric Ten Hag as the manager, it was expected that Sancho would get more game time and would be likely to start in matches. But with the signing of Antony, Ten Hag got his right flank sorted, which meant more time on the bench for Sancho.
Sancho was not included in United’s squad for their game against Arsenal on September 3, 2023. Later Erik ten Hag explained that Sancho was not picked due to “his performances in training”, stating that players “have to reach a level every day at Manchester United”. “You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line,” Ten Hag had said

According to sources, the problem dates back to last season, when Ten Hag tried to get Sancho to arrive on time by scheduling him at least an hour earlier than the rest of the team. This tactic had some initial success, however, before long Sancho fell back into his usual ways.
After Erik ten Hag revealed in the immediate aftermath of United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal that Sancho wasn’t part of the squad at the Emirates because of poor performances in training, the fans had a mixed reaction on X.
Some fans stated that “He needs to change or leave”. Some others even went all the way and said “Those who can’t play for the badge should live, the team stands” and “He needs to change or leave”. But several of them were unpleasant with Ten Hag publically stating his frustration over Sancho. They said “Ferguson would never put out a statement like Ten Hag” acknowledging that Sir Alex Ferguson could have handled the situation better.
Jadon Sancho deleted his comments on Erik ten Hag
Amidst all the chaos, Sancho was silent until September 4, 2023. Sancho replied back to Eric Ten Hag by releasing a statement on Social Media.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into,” Sancho wrote. “I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
But after 8 days of posting, Sancho has deleted his tweet. This development comes after reported showdown talks between Sancho and Ten Hag and the 23-year-old’s decision is being viewed as a positive outcome.
Sancho deleting that Tweet is good for everyone and it hints that Jadon Sancho and Ten Hag both have acknowledged they could have handled the situation better.
