A few hours after the Mexico City Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso was given a fine for speeding in the pitlane. However, the fine was not the amount F1 drivers are used to seeing. Alonso was given a fine of $120 for speeding in the pit lane.
Usually, when drivers are caught speeding in the pit lane, they are handed a time penalty which affects their results during the race. However, this time the Stewards decided to give a fine instead. This was not the first time a driver had received a small fine instead of a penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Earlier this year, Lewis Hamilton received the same fine for speeding in the pit lane in Austria. Alonso was given this fine as he exceeded the speed limit by only 0.06 mph. If the difference was greater, he would have received a bigger penalty.

This fine will have little effect on his bank statements. Over the years, Fernando Alonso has earned hundreds of millions of dollars. His current net worth is expected to be around $260 million. This net worth could go up until he chooses to remain in Formula 1.
His current contract with Aston Martin will run its course at the end of the 2024 season. It is likely that the 2-time champion will choose to retire after the 2024 season. He is currently 42 years old. Usually, drivers’ performance starts to fall off from the age of 35, however, Fernando showed no such weakness. He continues to put in impressive performances till date.
Fernando Alonso rates 2023 F1 season “Good” despite recent performance fade
After yet another dissapointing race for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso did not seem all that dull. He seemed more happy with what they had akready accomplished this season.
“Obviously we would love to keep fighting for podiums, but we are not in that position, unfortunately,” Alonso said. “But no, it’s not frustrating yet. This year has been an incredible season for us, so even if we DNF the remaining of the races, 2023 is still a good season. But hopefully we can revert this situation and we can finish on a high.”

Last season, Aston Martin only managed to finish to finsh 7th in the WCC. However, this year they were contenders to finish 2nd in the WCC. But since the pace has fallen off, it looks like they will have to settle for 5th place after losing position to Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren. But 5th is still 2 positions better than last year.
Right now, there is over a hundred between them and Alpine in 6th place. So it is safe to say that 5th is secured for Aston Martin in the WCC.
