After the Silverstone Grand Prix, Red Bull announced that they will be bringing in upgrades to their car for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Although Red Bull has brought a minimal amount of upgrades this season, they seem to continue to dominate. So far the team has won all the 11 races of the season achieving their 11 consecutive wins.
They are the only team apart from McLaren to earn 11 consecutive wins in Formula 1. Red Bull’s driver, Sergio Perez has won two of the races this season and Max Verstappen won the rest of the 9 races. But since Perez’s crash at Monaco, Red Bull has seen other teams go down their path. While Aston Martin and Ferrari had been one of the first to bring upgrades to match RB. Mercedes and McLaren followed right after.
Red Bull recently updated everyone about their new upgrades. They have announced their new side pods for the Hungarian GP. This will make the car 2-tenths faster than before. The RB car has seen a few changes throughout the season. They surely have not been as aggressive as the other teams during free practice.
Upgrades to make the car faster leave Max Verstappen in P11
Adrian Newey has brought in new upgrades package for Red Bull and turns out that this upgrade will help them at Spa too. Although Lewis Hamilton called Red Bull out for their upgrades, they will be unbeatable. As Max Verstappen leads the Formula 1 Championship so far, Red Bull’s new upgrades will only place them further on the top. They have also started development of their next year’s car. With RB being so far ahead of the other teams.
But after the first free practice at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the upgrades seem to have slowed Max Verstappen down. Max Verstappen finished P11 in the practice after Sergio Perez crashed in the first practice.
When Max Verstappen was asked about the upgrades he said, “Difficult to say anything about upgrades after this day, we will check the data later to see if the correlation is correct. It was mainly about saving tires with an eye on the format of qualifying. We have to see how we can improve that because I don’t think this is how it should be.”

With these new upgrades, they were supposed to be even quicker than the other teams. According to Adrain Newey, there had been no need to change their concepts for the car. The new upgrades in aerodynamics and side pods were going to make them quicker than before for the Hungarian Grand Prix. But with Sergio Perez’s crash again and Max Verstappen’s P11, it seems the upgrades may have gone wrong.
