Heading into the second half of the season, Formula 1 has witnessed numerous teams, including the likes of McLaren and Ferrari, unveiling special ‘one-off’ liveries for certain weekends. McLaren uncovered its famous ‘Triple Crown’ livery over the weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix, and while the hype was quite overwhelming, the eventual revelation failed to hit the mark.
The fans were anticipating a classic Silver livery, depicting McLaren’s glorious F1 era in the late 2000s and the early 2010s. However, upon unveiling, everyone realized that the Papaya was going nowhere, and the flashy Orange was anything but going well with the Silver in the one-off livery.
Similarly, Ferrari acknowledged designing a special livery for the home weekend at Monza. And yet again, amidst the massive expectations, the reality turned out to be disappointing. Indeed, the Maranello outfit’s sole purpose was to pay tribute to the Ferrari team featuring former Alfa Romeo driver, Antonio Giovinazzi, who won the Le Mans earlier this year.

However, in the end, all it did was pull them into the trenches of mockery. Many, including Lando Norris, trolled Ferrari’s latest special livery by relating it to the famous restaurant chain, McDonald’s. While streaming on Twitch, the Briton can be heard engaging in a cheeky conversation with Maw Fretwell, saying, “Do you think the Ferrari stuff look more like McDonald’s this year than it did last year?”
Fretwell, too, admitted not being a fan of Ferrari’s latest revelation. But, then arrived Alfa Romeo’s own special livery for the Italian Grand Prix, and boy did it trigger more hateful comments from the angry Tifosi.
Can Ferrari overshadow the highly criticized livery with solid Italian GP performance?
In one word, Alfa Romeo’s one-off livery was absolutely stunning, featuring Italy’s tri-colors of Red, White, and Green, which went quite well with the team’s primary ‘Alfa Red’ color. The Italian flag can be seen running along the top of the car before engulfing the engine cover, bringing about a stunning look to the challenger.
And of course, running over the legendary Monza course is only going to make this new one-off Alfa Romeo look even more beautiful. But, unfortunately, not only has the spotlight been taken away from Ferrari, the former world champions are also bearing the brunt of its own fanbase, which is seemingly displeased with the team’s meager efforts in designing special liveries.

Overall, regardless of the attractive liveries, the on-track result is all that matters at this point. Hence, can Ferrari find their way back to the podium at the Italian Grand Prix in front of the Tifosi? Only time will tell.
