Mick Schumacher waited for a whole season for things to turn around for him after his exit from Haas and as the 2024 season approaches, the German has secured a seat with Alpine for the 24 Hours of LeMans for the next season and here’s everything you need to know about Alpine’s A242_ß.
While he spent his time testing himself in the simulator every single day as he waited for his chance to come at the Mercedes team; with a new contract in hand after his test drive for the Alpine team, it seems that Schumacher is now prepared to take the next steps of his career.
All about the Alpine A242_ß, Mick Schumacher is set to drive
Mick Schumacher started his Formula 1 journey with the Haas team after watching his father conquer the sport in his prime and secure 7 World Championship titles in his career. However, other things were planned in the German’s fate as he suddenly announced signing to Alpine for the 24 Hours of LeMans and having plans to compete there.
He waited long for his chance at Mercedes or to get a seat with any other team to compete in the championship after he failed miserably and cost Haas a huge loss causing his exit from the team. But as the new year arrives, all the Championships prepare to have a fixed grid for the 2024 World Endurance Championships grid.
Although many did not hope to see the German pass his test drive for the Endurance Championship, let alone the 24 Hours of LeMans after his miserable failure to be consistent in Formula 1, the driver came through. And soon Alpine confirmed their car for the 2024 season of LeMans.

The all-new Alpine A242_ß was built from the ground up as a fusion of the hydrogen-powered Alpenglow and A110 which will also consist of the 3.4-litre V6 turbo engine. Alpine’s vision to have a “pure” design also brings an Xtrac gearbox and Williams battery to match up the engine.
The A242_ß also rests on 18″ Michelin-clad rims and consists of the Bosch hybrid box which helps it to accelerate at 674 horsepower; while the car weighs around a minimum of 2270 lbs. The Alpine team has now set their focus on making the second car for the championship that will have Schumacher competing against some of the ex-drivers in the sport.
Who will Mick Schumacher compete against?
Mick Schumacher has failed to put up a fight in the Formula 1 championship, but as he prepares for LeMans, it seems he will face even tougher competition to deal with than beating a seven-time champion and a three-time champion, Max Verstappen.
